Position Overview:

The Insuring Team Lead oversees the Insuring Team of Auditors and Insurers and reports unresolved issues to the Insuring Manager.  This position promotes validation of all applicable government agency guidelines, including FHA, VA, and USDA. The Insuring Team Lead works closely with the Underwriting and Closing teams to ensure the file is complete. The Insuring Team Lead communicates any discrepancies discovered and endorses government loans through the applicable agency electronic interface. The Insuring Team Lead makes certain the Insuring Department adheres to SLAs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Regularly manage the day-to-day tasks of the Insuring team.

  • Serve as the first level escalation point for Insuring team questions, file reviews and for additional support with loan level decisions, including but not limited to, first level review of principal reduction and check requests.

  • Review and balance team’s loan assignments and task load.

  • Provide employee development and performance coaching in one-on-one meetings.

  • Assist with onboarding and training new hires and existing employees to be upskilled on a variety of topics as needed.

  • Monitor team’s performance metrics and report regularly to management the document accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

  • Suggest process and work improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance within the Insuring team.

  • Review production and processes to identify trends that will be relayed to the Insuring Manager.

  • Pull reports from LOS system to identify loans that are currently outstanding.

  • Assist with Insuring team tasks and responsibilities, as necessary, inclusive of working an active pipeline.

  • Monitor Insuring team pipelines to ensure loans are paid and endorsed within the required SLA.

  • Perform quality review of team members’ loans to ensure accuracy and conformance with internal SLA.

  • Contact HUD, VA, and USDA with outstanding conditions, change requests and for problem resolution.

  • Review and resolve monthly uninsured, mismatched, and delinquent loan reports.

  • Provide updates on loans suspended by HUD, VA, and USDA to the Insuring Manager and Post Closing leadership.

  • Ensure Agency Insurance Application guidelines are followed.

  • Prepare informational responses as requested by regulatory agencies.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5 years’ related work experience preferred.

  • 2+ years' experience in a Team Lead or supervisory role.

  • 2+ years’ experience in an Underwriting or Processing role.

  • Experience reviewing Desktop Underwriter report and findings.

  • Proficient in FHA Connection, WebLGY, VA Funding Fee system and USDA LINC.

  • Knowledge of government agency fees and their payment processes.

  • Familiarity with all government loan programs and processes.

  • Proficient in standardized software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Encompass experience preferred.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with borrowers, internal employees, and external industry partners.

  • Skilled at prioritizing to complete multiple tasks within a given time frame.

  • Skilled at independently making decisions.

Pay Range:

  • Hourly Rate: $28.85- $33.65
  • The posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
