Trueline is seeking a Litigation Associate - Insurance & Catastrophic Loss to join their Insurance and Catastrophic Loss Litigation team in their Los Angeles office. This is a full-time role perfect for a talented attorney who’s ready to step into challenging, high-stakes matters while collaborating in a supportive, collegial environment.

Must-Haves as the Litigation Associate - Insurance & Catastrophic Loss

  • 1–3 years of complex commercial litigation experience (including briefing, motion practice, and discovery)
  • Admission (or eligibility for admission) to the California bar; additional state bar admissions a plus
  • Strong academic credentials (law school performance, writing and research demonstrated)
  • Excellent oral and written communication, logical reasoning, and collaborative mindset
  • Willingness to learn the insurance-coverage space, including first-party property or casualty claims

What You'll Do as the Litigation Associate - Insurance & Catastrophic Loss

  • Handle complex first-party and/or third-party insurance coverage disputes and catastrophic loss matters (e.g., property damage, casualty, large-scale events) under the supervision of experienced partners
  • Conduct legal research, draft briefs and motions, participate in discovery and depositions, and assist in trial readiness
  • Engage directly with clients and firm teams to analyze policy language, exposure, strategy and case-management aspects
  • Contribute to the team’s growth by learning insurance-coverage fundamentals, staying ahead of trends (e.g., wildfire, cyber, natural-disaster claims) and helping shape case narratives
  • Ability and comfortable with 1800 client hours and 100 pro bono hours

Nice-to-Haves as the Litigation Associate - Insurance & Catastrophic Loss

  • Familiarity with insurance coverage law (policy interpretation, exclusions, bad faith, subrogation, catastrophic event context)
  • Exposure to first-party property, large-loss claims, natural-disaster litigation, or major exposure matters
  • Experience working with both insurer-side and insured-side clients (or interest in working with insurers)
  • Prior involvement in trial or appellate settings (even if supporting role) and comfort with high-stakes litigation dynamics
