This role is remote and requires occasional travel to any FreedomCare location nationally, when necessary.

Department & Position Overview:

At FreedomCare we are committed to continuously developing our employee's skills and supporting them in achieving their professional goals. The Learning Experience Designer (LXD) is responsible for designing and delivering scalable, high-impact learning solutions that drive measurable behavior change and improve performance across FreedomCare’s workforce.

Helpful Context:

This role partners closely with business leaders, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to translate operational needs into engaging, effective learning experiences. The LXD leverages modern instructional design practices, data insights, and emerging technologies—including AI—to build solutions that support compliance, enhance quality, and elevate the caregiver and employee experience.

Key responsibilities:

Learning Design & Development

  • Design and develop engaging, outcome-driven learning solutions across modalities (e-learning, instructor-led, virtual, blended, and microlearning).
  • Create high-quality training assets including courses, videos, job aids, facilitator guides, assessments, and multi-day curricula.
  • Apply adult learning principles and behavior change strategies to ensure learning translates into on-the-job performance.

Stakeholder Partnership & Needs Analysis

  • Partner with stakeholders and SMEs to identify learning needs, define objectives, and align solutions to business goals.
  • Conduct needs analyses to diagnose performance gaps and recommend appropriate learning or non-learning interventions.
  • Translate complex operational processes into clear, learner-centered content.

Delivery Enablement

  • Support and enable training delivery by preparing facilitator materials, managing learning assets, and ensuring readiness for launch.
  • Collaborate with trainers and operations teams to ensure seamless rollout and adoption of learning solutions.

Measurement & Optimization

  • Define success metrics and evaluate learning effectiveness using appropriate evaluation methods (e.g., Kirkpatrick Levels, performance data).
  • Leverage data (e.g., QA scores, performance trends, learner feedback) to continuously improve learning solutions.
  • Monitor training impact on key business outcomes such as quality, compliance, and customer experience.

Asset & Knowledge Management

  • Create, organize, and maintain a centralized inventory of learning assets to support knowledge retention and accessibility.
  • Ensure content remains current, accurate, and aligned with business processes and regulatory requirements.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Utilize AI tools and emerging technologies to accelerate content development, personalize learning, and improve efficiency.
  • Stay current on industry trends and bring innovative approaches to learning design and delivery.
  • Contribute to the evolution of FreedomCare’s learning ecosystem, including knowledge management and performance enablement strategies.

Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or a related role
  • Experience designing both virtual and instructor-led training programs
  • Strong experience developing e-learning, multimedia content, and structured curricula
  • Experience working in fast-paced, operational environments; healthcare or regulated industry experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital learning platforms

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint)
  • Experience with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Rise/Storyline, Vyond, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Experience creating multimedia content (video, audio, interactive learning)
  • Understanding of SCORM/xAPI and learning analytics
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and knowledge management platforms is a plus
  • Experience leveraging AI tools for content development or workflow optimization is highly desirable

Competencies

  • Strong foundation in adult learning theory and instructional design best practices
  • Ability to translate complex or ambiguous business needs into clear, effective learning solutions
  • Data-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and measurable outcomes
  • Strong project management, prioritization, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to work cross-functionally with diverse teams
  • Focus on designing for behavior change and real-world application—not just knowledge transfer

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
