Support teachers by implementing lesson plans, leading leveled reading groups, administering academic assessments, providing math and reading instruction, supervising students during lunch and meetings, participating in professional development, enforcing positive discipline policies, communicating with staff and parents, and performing other duties to maximize student achievement.

Role Definition: The Instructional Assistant holds the responsibility for implementation of teacher created lesson plans for scholars, in collaboration with lead teachers, in an effort to maximize student achievement.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Teach leveled reading groups
• Conduct academic assessments
• Provide instruction in various math and reading drills and activities using learning strategies designed to introduce, reinforce, or modify skills
• Provide supervision and support for students during lunch and Friday Community Meeting
• Actively participate in professional development aimed at refining both school culture and academics
• Maintain high behavioral expectations for student behavior
• Enforce Equitas Academy’s positive discipline policies
• Work and assist teachers during the school day with instruction, oversight, and supervision of students
• Follow policies and procedures for health, safety, and nutrition
• Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, and other stakeholders
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• A.A. degree OR two years of college (at least 48 units) OR passage of internal assessment required, BA preferred
• Criminal clearance, including fingerprints and TB Test
• At least 6 months experience working with and supervising children
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Current CPR and 1st Aid Certificate within 3 months of employment.
Salary:
$22/hour
