Innovation Video Editor (Remote, Freelance)

R&D & AI-Driven Post-Production

Are you a video editor who thrives on pushing the boundaries of technology?

Do you believe AI and automation can revolutionize post-production?

MarketScale is launching a groundbreaking Editorial Innovation Unit—a first-of-its-kind team dedicated to tech-driven editing, process optimization, and AI-assisted workflows.

This isn’t a regular video editing job—it’s an R&D lab for video postproduction. We’re hiring a new generation of editors who think beyond traditional workflows and embrace AI tools, automation, and cloud-based solutions to cut costs, speed up production, and reward experimentation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Research & Experimentation: Dedicate part of your week to testing cutting-edge tools like RunwayML, Descript, Veed, and emerging AI platforms—proving efficiency gains in real-world projects.
  • AI-Assisted Production: Execute high-quality edits, but only within optimized, scalable workflows that reduce manual effort.
  • Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks, experiment with automation, and implement solutions that improve speed and reduce costs.
  • Metrics-Driven Workflow: Test new tools with structured efficiency benchmarks—if a tool cuts editing time by 30%+, it gets adopted.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Collaborate with the team in weekly sessions to document findings and improve workflows.
  • Performance-Based Rewards: Earn bonuses based on measurable cost/time savings from implementing new tools.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Tech-Forward Editors: You’re excited about AI, automation, and non-Adobe workflows.
  • Full-Stack Problem Solvers: You don’t just edit—you build smarter workflows.
  • Experimenters & Optimizers: You love testing new tools and proving their impact.
  • Efficiency-Driven Creators: You believe great work can be faster, cheaper, and smarter with the right tools.
  • You have experience in a largescale post-production environment, and you'd like to have a say in breaking that model.

Why This Matters:

Traditional post-production workflows are slow and expensive. This team isn’t here to fight legacy workflows—it’s here to replace them.

MarketScale’s Editorial Innovation Unit is a technology investment, ensuring our video pipeline is faster, leaner, and future-proof. If you’re ready to redefine what video editing looks like, apply now.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
