Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Innovation and Strategy Manager to join our team. This critical role will support various business units in launching frameworks, administering, and coordinating gate processes, and providing visibility to Vitality Index KPI. The successful candidate will collaborate with multifunctional teams such as R&D, marketing, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure an effective and efficient process from concept to launch. This role will ensure the roll-out the Smartsheet tool for commercialization and act as the company’s super user for maintaining and updating the process and tool for continuous improvement. The role will also feed the pipeline of New Business Development by monitoring and vetting new ideas, business opportunities that emerge in the marketplace. As a member of the Growth and Strategy team, the role will also be critical when it comes to strategic projects such as analytical work, planning process and other cross-BU projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Innovation process administration and reporting:
- Support business units in launching and managing the product development framework
- Implement and manage the Smartsheet tool for commercialization and support roll-out for PMO
- Act as the company’s super user for the Smartsheet tool, maintaining and updating processes for continuous improvement
- Administer and coordinate the gate process for new product development
- Identify and address areas of concern in the innovation process, design solution and build tools to address gaps
- Collaborate with multifunctional teams such as R&D, marketing, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure the process is followed
- Provide visibility to NPI and Vitality Index KPIs. Report out on key KPIs related to new product development to the Executive Committee
- Develop and maintain reporting tools and dashboards to track performance and ensure a balanced innovation pipeline
- Promote cross-pollination across the company to enhance problem-solving capabilities
- New business development and scouting:
- Aligned with Company strategy, develop and maintain an evaluation and vetting process to monitor market trends, industry innovation (start-ups, new ideas…) by collaborating with 3rd party companies
- Build business case for most promising ideas, recommend path forward (internal innovation, JV…) and champion projects to get traction with businesses
- Strategy and analytics
- Frame, analyze internal and external sources of information, build and/or vet financial models, and translate that information into actionable and sound business decisions – becoming a trusted resource when it comes to urgent and ad hoc analytical needs that can covers topics as wide as sales excellence, manufacturing network optimization, profitability etc. to advance overall strategy
- Analyze business problems and root causes, then provide strategic recommendations and document next steps
- Work collaboratively and bring strategic alignment between cross-functional leaders to prepare their plans and strategic initiatives
- Lead and/or vet construction of analytical models in support of both current and new strategic initiatives
- Support preparation for periodic status and ad hoc reports for CEO, leadership team, and Board of Directors
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. MBA or relevant master’s degree preferred
- 3+ years of experience in product development and commercialization within the building materials industry
- Proven experience in administering gate processes and frameworks for new product development. Strong understanding of NPI and Vitality Index KPIs
- Proficiency with Smartsheet or similar project management tools
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadline constraints
- Strong analytical and influencing skills with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities

The US base salary for this full-time position is $100K - $135K annually + STIP (short term incentive plan) + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. (Full-time is defined as regularly working 30+ hours per week.)
