The mission of the Global Architecture Department is to set global architecture strategies and standards to enable secure, scalable, and innovative technology solutions that accelerate our business goals.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As a member of the Global Architecture Department, you will be part of the team responsible for driving architectural excellence, ensuring Aritzia’s technology solutions across the enterprise are secure and well-positioned for future growth. As the Principal Enterprise Architect supporting Retail and Digital, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how we leverage technology to deliver world-class, seamless, and personalized client experiences. You will drive the multi-year architecture strategy and technology roadmap that powers our in-store and digital commerce ecosystems, including our mobile app, retail POS, client engagement platforms, and omnichannel fulfillment. Your architecture vision will modernize legacy platforms, accelerate our transition to microservices and composable commerce, and ensure alignment with Aritzia’s business strategy and measurable outcomes. THE ROLE

As the Principal Enterprise Architect, you will:

  • Develop and maintain the architecture vision, strategy, and roadmap for Aritzia’s digital commerce, mobile apps, content, search, client data, POS, and omnichannel capabilities, upgrading legacy systems into cloud-native, microservices-based, and headless ecosystems
  • Partner strategically with business and technology leaders to shape initiatives that modernize and transform our digital and retail capabilities
  • Evangelize emerging technologies and industry trends, influencing Aritzia’s roadmap to maintain a competitive edge through cutting-edge solutions
  • Embed AI and ML capabilities into the technology ecosystem, driving automation, predictive insights, and intelligent decision-making
  • Translate corporate strategy into actionable technology direction and ensure architecture investments deliver tangible business value
  • Influence and guide solution architects and engineering teams, ensuring design consistency, scalability, and alignment with global principles
  • Drive modernization across retail and digital, ensuring flexibility and future-readiness
  • Collaborate closely with peers across the Technology Division to ensure end-to-end integration across retail and digital commerce capabilities
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration through engineering communities of practice and lead the creation and adoption of engineering best practices

THE QUALIFICATIONS

The Principal Enterprise Architect has proven skills, certifications, education, and/or experience:

  • 20+ years of experience architecting and delivering technology solutions retail and digital domains
  • Proven leadership in cloud migrations, data integrations, DevOps, backend engineering, and off-the-shelf package implementations
  • Strong technology and engineering background, including experience with:
    • Commerce and digital experience architectures, including modernizing legacy eCommerce into cloud-native and headless platforms
    • Composable commerce (e.g., Salesforce, Commerce Cloud, Commerce tools or similar)
    • AWS or GCP, microservices, Spring Boot, serverless, containers (Docker/EKS), GraphQL, React, CI/CD, and IaC (Terraform)
    • Proficiency in enterprise data and integration patterns
    • Experience with retail systems, POS integration, omnichannel flows, and high-volume commerce performance patterns
    • Implementing a Customer Data Platform (CDP)
    • Deploying technology to support loyalty and membership programs
    • Hands-on experience with implementing modern Search platforms
    • Implementation of Call Center client interaction automation leveraging Agentic AI-based platforms
    • Integrating a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system
    • Modernizing content, catalog, and search platforms, leveraging AI/ML-powered search and personalization
    • Experience managing large budgets and leading cross-functional teams in complex, global environments
    • Experience in vendor relationship management, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement
    • Appreciation for Aritzia’s obsession with design, quality, and excellence, and ability to translate that into technology standards and solutions that scale

    • Ability to align global architecture with business strategy and influence senior stakeholders across business and technology functions

THE COMPENSATION  

The typical hiring range for this position is $200,000–$275,000 per year. The final agreed upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience.  Additionally, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
