About The RoleWe are very excited to be hiring a newly created Indirect Tax Manager role to join our fast-paced Accounting and Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading drone logistics company that will tap into your existing knowledge while making meaningful contributions to the growth of the company. You will lead and manage the indirect tax area including but not limited to sales/use tax, property taxes, excise tax, etc. The Indirect Tax Manager will report to the Head of Tax.
What You'll Do- Provide tax consultation to various business units and functions
- Research and resolve indirect tax issues with vendors and customers
- Prepare and file all indirect tax returns
- Prepare audit ready workpapers
- Prepare monthly tax account reconciliation
- Prepare tax technical research memo to support our tax position
- Manage and maintain the Avalara tax engine and reporting system
- Manage and maintain the indirect tax calendar to ensure timely filing of all tax returns and payments
- Lead and manage all indirect tax audits
- Lead all systems related effort that impacts the indirect tax area
- Collaborate with Head of Tax to develop and implement tax planning ideas
- Collaborate with the Accounting and Finance teams to address all indirect tax related matters
- Develop and lead internal indirect tax training sessions
- Provide tax development and updates to the Head of Tax and other business functions
- Register and maintain sales/use tax permits as new locations are added
- Work on ad hoc indirect tax projects as necessary
- Liaise and manage relationship with outside tax advisors
- Continue to enhance and improve internal control in the indirect tax area
- At least 7 years of indirect tax experience working with a multinational company with operations in multiple states and/or similar experience from an international public accounting firm
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Graduate degree or professional certification is a plus
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while being flexible as priority changes
- Experience with Avalara and NetSuite is highly preferred
- Experience with marketplace facilitator tax laws is a plus
- Proficient with other software such Checkpoint, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or Google G Suite specifically Excel and Google Sheet.
This role is based out of our South San Francisco HQ. Must be eligible to work in the US and travel globally as needed.
The starting cash range for this role is $150,000 - $180,000. Please note that this is a target, starting cash range for a candidate who meets the minimum qualifications for this role. The final cash pay for this role will depend on a variety of factors, including a specific candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, working location, and projected impact. The total compensation package for this role may also include: equity compensation; overtime pay; discretionary annual or performance bonuses; sales incentives; benefits such as medical, dental and vision insurance; paid time off; and more.
