About Radiant

Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor that can be transported anywhere power is needed and run for up to 5 years without refueling. Portable nuclear power with rapid-deploy capability can replace similar-sized diesel generators and provide critical asset support for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases. Radiant’s unique, practical approach to nuclear development leverages modern software engineering to rapidly deliver safe, factory-built microreactors that use existing, well-qualified materials. Founded in 2020, Radiant is on track to test its first reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory this summer, with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028.

 About the Role

Radiant is looking for an Indirect Procurement Associate to support sourcing and procurement of indirect goods and services — Facilities, IT, Professional Services, MRO, consumables, and R&D collaborations. This is a hands-on role for someone with strong technical instincts who wants to build skills in supplier evaluation, negotiation, and contract support. You'll work alongside Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Production, and will be paired with more senior procurement staff to develop your commercial and negotiation skill set.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Support sourcing efforts for indirect categories (IT, Professional Services, MRO, consumables, R&D collaborations) by gathering technical requirements and evaluating supplier capability against Radiant's engineering needs.

  • Assist with drafting and reviewing SOWs, NDAs, and PO terms; help prepare negotiation positions for MSAs and licensing agreements under guidance from senior staff.

  • Help manage facilities/MRO procurement tasks — coordinating with vendors on maintenance, repairs, equipment, and small lab build-out needs.

  • Track purchase orders through the procure-to-pay cycle, flagging delays or technical mismatches early.

  • Act as a day-to-day point of contact for select, lower-complexity suppliers, escalating high-stakes commercial matters to senior procurement staff.

  • Contribute technical judgment to cost and quality trade-off discussions.

  • Help identify supply chain risks from an engineering/technical perspective (e.g., part obsolescence, service quality issues).

  • Support process documentation and improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related engineering field) strongly preferred, Supply Chain or similar degrees considered

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience; prior procurement/sourcing experience is a plus but not required.

  • Strong technical/mechanical aptitude and genuine interest in the commercial side of engineering (supplier selection, cost trade-offs, contracts).

  • Good analytical and organizational skills; comfortable learning negotiation and contract fundamentals on the job.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Comfortable with ERP/MRP systems and standard office software (or willing to learn quickly).

  • Occasional travel to supplier locations (up to 20%).

Desired Qualifications

  • Exposure to Facilities, MRO, IT, or Professional Services sourcing.

  • Coursework or interest in quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100).

  • Interest in the energy/nuclear sector.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.

  • Must work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ.

Benefits and Perks
  • Stock: Substantial incentive stock plan for all full-time employees.

  • Medical: 100% up to base silver level plan for employee + 50% dependents, offers up to Platinum plans.

  • One Medical: Sponsored memberships for employees and their dependents.

  • Vision: 100% top tier plan coverage + 50% for dependents.

  • Dental: 100% top tier plan coverage, orthodontia extra, 50% for dependents.

  • Voluntary life, accident, hospital, critical illness, commuter and FSA/HSA are offered as employee contributed benefits.

  • 8-weeks of paid parental leave for all parents. Additional paid pregnancy leave for CA employees.

  • Daily catered lunch. Free snacks and drinks.

  • Flexible PTO policy. Remote workday allocation.

  • Company and team-bonding events, happy hours and in-person camaraderie.

  • Beautiful El Segundo headquarters close to the Pacific Ocean.

Total Compensation and Benefits

Radiant’s new hire compensation package includes base salary, substantial equity grants, and comprehensive health benefits. Total compensation and level are determined through a rigorous evaluation of interview performance, experience, education, and qualifications, and are designed to support continued growth as scope, responsibility, and impact expand at Radiant.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
