Welcome to the Agentic Commerce Era

At Commerce, our mission is to empower businesses to innovate, grow, and thrive with our open, AI-driven commerce ecosystem. As the parent company of BigCommerce, Feedonomics, and Makeswift, we connect the tools and systems that power growth, enabling businesses to unlock the full potential of their data, deliver seamless and personalized experiences across every channel, and adapt swiftly to an ever-changing market. We believe in harnessing AI responsibly to unlock new possibilities, and we’re looking for individuals who use it intentionally to solve problems, accelerate outcomes, and expand what’s possible in their role. Our purpose is to help businesses confidently solve complex commerce challenges so they can build smarter, adapt faster, and grow on their own terms. If you want to be part of a team of bold builders, sharp thinkers, and technical trailblazers who shape the future of commerce, this is the place for you.

As a Technical Project Manager, you will drive the execution of complex, cross-functional technology projects for our merchants, partners, and internal teams. You will be responsible for delivering eCommerce implementations, integrations, and platform migrations within defined scope, timeline, and budget.

This role is ideal for a project manager who thrives in execution — owning delivery, managing risk, and building strong client relationships while developing deeper technical and strategic expertise.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Client Implementations: Follow established delivery frameworks to produce project plans and business requirement documents, gather requirements, and guide merchants and agency partners to successful launches within scope, budget, and timeline.

  • Enablement: Ensure agencies and merchants have the tools, resources, and guidance needed to succeed. Share best practices and recommendations with external stakeholders to help them meet project goals and timelines.

  • Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact during technical implementation, providing expertise and support to agencies, merchants, and internal teams across the full project lifecycle.

  • Executive Communication: Keep client stakeholders - including senior leaders - informed on critical milestones and project risks with clear, proactive communication throughout delivery.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams including Solutions Architects and Technical Account Managers, coordinating resources and ensuring alignment on technical requirements and overall project readiness.

  • Project Management: Own daily project activities across scope management, resource planning, progress tracking, and proactive risk and issue management. Track and report on project progress, address escalations, and identify and raise risk appropriately.

  • Client Advocacy: Overcome client obstacles by facilitating communication and advocacy with internal stakeholders. Fully own escalations during the implementation cycle, bringing in appropriate senior resources as needed.

Who You Are

  • Project Management Experience: You have 3-5 years of experience managing projects or implementations in a client-facing environment. SaaS, eCommerce, or technology organisations are ideal backgrounds; we will also consider adjacent industries where delivery complexity and stakeholder demands are comparable.

  • Learnability and Adaptability: Above all else, you learn fast and adapt well. You have a track record of picking up new platforms, systems, or domains and operating confidently within them - and you're energised by environments where not everything is figured out yet.

  • Stakeholder Management: You're comfortable managing client relationships at all levels, including executive stakeholders. You know how to set and protect expectations, navigate difficult conversations, and keep relationships intact when projects get complicated.

  • Project Management Excellence: You have a strong command of scope control, timeline management, resource coordination, and risk mitigation. You're proficient with tools such as Jira, Salesforce, Smartsheet, Wrike, or similar and use them to keep projects and stakeholders aligned.

  • Methodology & Delivery Frameworks: You have worked within Agile and/or Waterfall delivery methodologies in a client-facing or SaaS environment and can flex your approach based on what the project needs.

  • eCommerce & Integration: Experience with platform migrations, API integrations, or digital commerce initiatives will set you apart & is highly preferred.

  • Familiarity with ERP, OMS, PIM, or CMS systems is a bonus. If you don't have this background, a genuine willingness to develop technical fluency - and the ability to do so quickly — matters more than what you know on day one.

  • Technical Awareness: You don't need to write code, but you should have a basic understanding of what APIs are and how integrations work - enough to ask the right questions, identify risks during discovery, and hold a credible conversation with a technical team.

  • Certification: A PMP, CAPM, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification is something we value. If you don't hold one but have the right experience and instincts, we're still interested in talking.

  • Communication: You communicate with clarity and confidence in writing and in person. You're comfortable working across technical and non-technical teams and can navigate ambiguity without losing momentum.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
