Who we are

Zus is a shared health data platform designed to accelerate healthcare data interoperability by providing easy-to-use patient data via API, embedded components, and direct EHR integrations. Founded in 2021 by Jonathan Bush, co-founder and former CEO of athenahealth, Zus partners with HIEs and other data networks to aggregate patient clinical history and then translates that history into user-friendly information at the point of care. Zus's mission is to catalyze healthcare's greatest inventors by maximizing the value of patient insights - so that they can build up, not around.

What we're looking for:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Implementation Manager to drive onboarding and integration efforts for our customers. In this pivotal role, you will develop, execute, and manage implementation plans, ensuring that our customers successfully integrate Zus products and derive maximum value. You will be the Zus expert and technical point of contact for customers during implementation, leading with best practice, guiding customers through challenges and advocating for their needs within Zus Health. You will also contribute to the delivery of consulting and service engagements with existing customers. This role is critical in ensuring our clients achieve maximum value from our solutions through expert project management, cross-functional coordination, and exceptional customer engagement.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with exceptional problem-solving skills and a passion for delivering stellar customer experiences. They are hungry to make a difference at a growth-stage startup and are comfortable navigating the technical complexities of healthcare.

Key responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end implementation process for new client projects.
  • Develop detailed scope of work and project plan, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

Technical Integration

  • Own the full technical onboarding process, including:
  • - Authentication and network configuration
    - Zus App integration and configuration
    - Secure transmission and ingestion of patient rosters (e.g., SFTP, APIs)
    - Data mart setup and configuration for downstream analytics and reporting
  • Develop reusable integration patterns, deployment automation, and implementation toolkits to drive scalable growth.
  • Translate customer business requirements into system configurations and architecture within Zus Health’s platform.

Customer Management

  • Serve as the Zus SME technical point of contact for clients throughout the implementation process, in partnership with an Account Executive.
  • Host regular status reviews, technical deep dives, and troubleshooting sessions.
  • Surface client product feedback to Engineering and Product teams, and influence roadmap priorities based on observed patterns.
  • Ensure client expectations are met or exceeded and foster strong, long-term relationships.

Cross-functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including product development and account management, to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Coordinate with technical teams to ensure that the product or service is configured and integrated according to client requirements.

Training and Support

  • Develop and deliver training sessions for clients to ensure they are fully equipped to use our products effectively.
  • Develop technical documentation, onboarding materials, and training resources as needed.

You're a good fit because you have

  • 7+ years of experience in technical implementation, solutions engineering, or systems integration—preferably in a healthtech, SaaS, or enterprise software environment.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data standards and protocols (FHIR, HL7, CCD) and experience integrating with EMRs (e.g., Epic, Cerner, athenahealth).
  • Hands-on experience with APIs and data ingestion pipelines (ETL, JSON, CSV).
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms and tools (e.g., Snowflake), including database schema design and query optimization.
  • Proficient in technical debugging and problem solving across application and data layers
  • Proficient in basic scripting ability (e.g., Python).
  • Experience with secure environments and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2).
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and communicate complex concepts effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills including the ability to work collaboratively and influence cross-functional teams.
  • A self-starter attitude that shows that you are ready for the fast, and sometimes unstructured, nature of a growth-stage startup.
  • Passion for improving healthcare in the US.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to customer engagements, industry events and company meetings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field

This roles includes a base salary and incentive compensation. While we're a remote first company, this role will require some travel for to events, conferences, customer meetings and internal company meetings.

We will offer you…

• Competitive compensation that reflects the value you bring to the team a combination of cash and equity
• Robust benefits that include health insurance, wellness benefits, 401k with a match, unlimited PTO
• Opportunity to work alongside a passionate team that is determined to help change the world (and have fun doing it)

Please Note: Research shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often don’t apply unless they meet 100% of the job criteria. While we have worked to consolidate the minimum qualifications for each role, we aren’t looking for someone who checks each box on a page; we’re looking for active learners and people who care about disrupting the current healthcare system with their unique experiences.

We do not conduct interviews by text nor will we send you a job offer unless you've interviewed with multiple people, including the Director of People & Talent, over video interviews. Job scams do exist so please be careful with your personal information.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
