About the Role

We are seeking a Marketing Segment Director, IT to own our IIT segment strategy worldwide. You will set the direction for how we go to market with IITs and ensure every marketing motion aimed at them — campaigns, content, events, and digital journeys — ladders back to that strategy. This is a high-visibility individual contributor role reporting to the SVP of Revenue Marketing. You own the “what and why” of the segment, working through Product Marketing, Campaigns & Activation, Field Marketing, Events, ABM, Demand Generation, Web/Digital, and Corporate Communications, who own the “how.”

Location - Hybrid in Austin, TX. In the office 3-4 days per week (Mon, Tues, & Thurs)

What You’ll be Doing

Own the segment strategy

  • Define and prioritize the IIT marketing strategy, translating business priorities, market dynamics, and growth opportunities into clear segment priorities that guide campaigns, programs, and investment.

  • Maintain deep command of segment performance, sales priorities, customer needs, and competitive dynamics — and turn those inputs into actionable marketing direction.

  • Provide strategic direction and messaging guidance while enabling functional leaders to execute world-class marketing within their domains.

Shape messaging and campaigns

  • Partner with the Integrated Campaigns Director and Product Marketing so IIT campaigns, narratives, and content resonate with the audience, amplify customer success stories, and ladder back to segment strategy.

  • Influence content, channel, and partner marketing so messaging stays consistent across every stage of the IIT journey, from thought leadership to demand generation.

  • Review campaign performance with Campaigns & Activation to assess whether programs are solving the intended segment need, and feed learnings into the next cycle.

Bring the insight no one else can see

  • Sit across regions to surface patterns, wins, and challenges individual regional teams cannot see on their own, and codify what works into repeatable GTM plays.

  • Diagnose when metrics look off — overall segment performance, SDR productivity, conversion rates — and determine whether the root cause sits with marketing, sales execution, or market conditions.

  • Mine win/loss data, competitive intelligence, and sales feedback to explain why the segment is winning and where competitive threats are emerging.

  • Deliver data-backed recommendations on where to focus, where to iterate, and which levers to pull.

Align the organization

  • Act as the segment integrator across marketing functions, ensuring functional and regional plans map to IIT strategy while respecting their ownership of execution and budgets.

  • Flag gaps or misalignment between business needs and planned activity early, and convene the right leaders to resolve them.

  • Keep an always-on feedback cycle with IIT sales leaders — in the trenches on their pipeline needs, market signals, and barriers to growth — and translate what you hear into marketing priorities.

  • Serve as the senior voice for IIT inside Marketing and as a thought partner to the SVP of Revenue Marketing, including support for executive QBRs and briefings.

  • Other duties as needed

About You

  • 7+ years in B2B SaaS marketing, including 5+ years in segment marketing, go-to-market strategy, or an equivalent role.

  • Track record of driving strategic alignment across large, matrixed marketing organizations without direct authority.

  • Strong analytical mindset — comfortable with data, pattern recognition, and root cause analysis.

  • Deep understanding of segment-driven marketing across content, campaigns, events, and digital.

  • People management experience, even if not currently managing a team.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the executive presence to work directly with senior leaders.

  • You align with our values Curiosity, Integrity, Kindness, Humility, & Builders and are committed to creating an environment where these values flourish in our teams

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
