About The Job
We are seeking a Hydrogeologist and Project Manager to support our business in the Environmental Services and Water Resources Business Lines. This position will support groundwater resource development, permitting, and management; groundwater production well exploration, siting, design, drilling oversight, and construction management; numerical groundwater modeling; project management and client interaction; technical and project team leadership; and report writing.
This will be a hybrid role based out of one of California offices.

Duties and Responsibilities (may include some or all of the below): 

  • Analyze and communicate hydrologic and geologic data to provide insight into critical groundwater flow and contaminant transport processes as they relate to groundwater resource assessments, groundwater sustainability, and groundwater management.
  • Develop new well designs for groundwater production and groundwater monitoring.
  • Lead hydrogeologic field investigations in support of water supply development including drilling, well construction, and testing oversight; groundwater sampling; and water level monitoring.
  • Manage projects from beginning to end, including proposal and budget development; management of project team, schedule, and project financials; client interaction; and project delivery.
  • Prepare clear and concise documents and presentations to communicate project goals, progress, and results to clients, interested parties, and the public.
  • Follow safe work practices and adhere to company and client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology/Geology/Geochemistry or related field.
  • 8 years of working experience in a consulting or regulatory environment, regularly using and analyzing hydrogeologic data for water supply applications.
  • Practical project-related experience with groundwater supply planning, water use permitting, and development.
  • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication (record of publications, project reports, and/or public presentations will be requested).
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment, and collaborate with project team members.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make timely decisions.
  • Positive attitude and a desire for continuous learning.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment

* As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: pre - employment drug test and background check.
Preferred Qualifications

  • PG or PE preferred, or ability to work towards a professional registration.
  • Technical background in numerical groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling with knowledge of MODFLOW, Python or R, PEST, and ArcGIS.
  • Background in water resource data visualization.
  • Knowledge of California, Nevada, Arizona, and/or Washington water rights, groundwater adjudications, and SGMA
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously on a consistent basis.

Physical Requirements
Working Conditions:

  • This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
  • This job requires occasional project site visits-based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles and equipment.

  • This job requires working on a computer, sitting or standing for long periods of time in an office or remote office setting.
  • This job requires attending meetings, both in person and virtually as well as speaking on the phone with peers, clients, etc. Speaking, hearing and listening are required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Outdoor activity may involve walking/trekking in uneven terrain over long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.

Proposed Salary Range: $130,000 - $170,000 annually*
*Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
