About Sesame

Sesame believes in a future where computers are lifelike - with the ability to see, hear, and collaborate with us in ways that feel natural and human. With this vision, we're designing a new kind of computer, focused on making voice agents part of our daily lives. Our team brings together founders from Oculus and Ubiquity6, alongside proven leaders from Meta, Google, and Apple, with deep expertise spanning hardware and software. Join us in shaping a future where computers truly come alive.

About the Role

This role is for a highly organized, hands-on problem-solver eager to build a global logistics system from scratch. We are a rapidly growing startup, and our logistics processes are a "wild west." We need an architect who will write the playbook, establish all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and take complete ownership of how our critical parts and people move across the globe.

If you are hungry, wildly organized, and excited to bring order to chaos, bring your toolbox and build something incredible with us.

Responsibilities:
  • Architect the Global Playbook: Design a scalable, highly organized system for tracking parts moving seamlessly between our four global locations (Camas, Bellevue, San Francisco, and Asia).

  • Manage Heavy Freight & Shipping: Own the full lifecycle of complex physical shipments. This includes coordinating with major carriers (DHL, FedEx) to safely and efficiently move delicate and massive equipment.

  • International Customs Compliance: Master global shipping nuances. Ensure high-value equipment (e.g., $250,000 prototypes) is correctly valued, flagged with the right customs codes, and tracked flawlessly to eliminate international bottlenecks.

  • Coordinate Complex Group Travel: Act as the logistical anchor for the Hardware Operations team, managing administrative coordination for group travel, including flights, hotels, and on-the-ground logistics for 12+ engineers traveling for prototyping sprints in locations like Asia.

  • Collaborate and Iterate: Work directly with ops and hardware leadership to refine processes and ensure flawless execution across the entire team.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Logistics Unicorn: Direct, hands-on experience with major shipping companies, freight forwarders, and international customs is a must-have.

  • Obsessively Organized: You have an eagle eye for detail, understanding that a single error can derail a project. You naturally create structured systems out of messy situations.

  • A True Builder: You are proactive, take ownership, create your own operating procedures, and build scalable foundations without waiting to be told what to do.

  • A Curious Problem Solver: You are dynamic, hungry, and relentless. You don't get blocked; you find a way over, under, or through every obstacle.

  • Locally Anchored: Based in San Francisco and excited to be physically on-site to directly oversee hands-on shipping, receiving, and logistics.

Why Join Us?

You will have high visibility, the autonomy to design the entire operational architecture, and the chance to see your direct impact accelerating our global prototyping and manufacturing sprints from day one. You are joining an innovative AI company at its foundation.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
