The HV/SEHV Senior Safety Manager will coordinate, implement, and monitor the Corporate Safety Programs at various project locations

Job Description:

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Able to perform all duties of a safety representative

  • Ability to work with a team and independently

  • Thorough understanding of basic electrical concepts

  • Electrical substation knowledge and function

  • BESS installation

  • Provide electrical safety training and education

  • Knowledge of and comfortable in medium and high voltage environments as well as able to train safe work practices, learn and teach company clearance and operational procedures

  • Ability to work with union field and leadership personnel

  • Experience in substation construction

  • Inside and outside wiring experience a plus

  • Thorough knowledge of trenching and excavation

  • Knowledge of fall protection standards and implementation

  • Prepare and train downhole rescue training

  • Equipment training experience

  • Aerial lift standards and training capabilities

  • Qualified rigger and signalperson trainer

  • Perform new hire orientation and training

  • Identify leading and lagging indicators

  • Able to work with owner/owners’ safety representatives to develop safety procedures and plans

  • Develop job specific safety plans and procedures, and see to implementation

  • Inspect job sites to ensure Company Safety Program and OSHA compliance

  • Provide emergency response plans for projects

  • Arrange for basic first aid/CPR training for job site personnel

  • Investigate and analyze bodily injury and property damage accidents

  • Lead investigation of near miss and reportable offenses

  • Ability to determine near miss/good catch

  • Coordinate project safety programs with subcontractors

  • Compile and issue regular accident report summaries

  • Provide updated information to employees regarding safety requirement updates or changes

  • Identify and handle project management personnel needing assistance, training, or discipline in meeting corporate safety guidelines and goals

  • Work with third party safety verification platforms for validation of company’s safety procedures

  • Develop regional safety training’s, through onsite, local, and LMS based training

  • Create training and assist with trainers for various safety programs

  • Observe and flag personnel for additional or follow up training’s

  • Participate in Corrective Action Plan development

  • Regularly review and revise Electrical Safety Program documents, keeping current with industry code and best practices

Objectives or Goals to Measure Performance:

  • Reduction of frequency and severity of injury accidents

  • Reduction of Workers’ Compensation, general liability, and property premiums

  • Elimination of OSHA citations

  • Development of positive attitudes on the part of employees regarding safe work practices

  • Ensure customer/client satisfaction

  • Improved personal professional growth and education

  • Improved communication of compliance issues to field personnel

  • Provide safety education and training with electrical emphasis

  • Reduce the cost of regional safety trainings and travel through local and LMS based training

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • Have or work to obtain safety certification such as CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, or CUSP

  • BS in Occupational safety and health or 7 years safety experience

  • 5 years’ experience in safety or safety related field

  • Experience with unions and union contracts

  • Linework or substation construction experience is a plus

  • Willing to travel 75%

  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations

  • Able to train OSHA 10 and 30

  • Through knowledge of NFPA 70e and ability to train to the standard

  • Ability to evaluate operations and maintenance work activities with respect to safety and loss control

  • Ability to recognize and analyze company trends with respect to company accidents

Compensation Range:

$131,365 - $164,207
