About Harbinger
Harbinger is an American commercial electric vehicle (EV) company on a mission to transform an industry starving for innovation. Harbinger’s best-in-class team of EV, battery, and drivetrain experts have pooled their deep experience to bring a first-of-its-kind EV platform to support the growing demand for medium-duty EVs and Hybrids. Harbinger: Familiar Form, Revolutionary Foundation.
As a High voltage (HV) systems integration engineer, you are responsible for owning the layer between individual power hardware components (such as inverters, rectifiers, converters, and battery packs) and complete, functional energy systems such as MW scale generators, auxiliary power sources, electric trucks and battery chargers. This is a high-level ownership role on a growing team that spans multiple business verticals.
Key Responsibilities- System commissioning: Responsible for end-to-end system bring up and commissioning in test sites or field pilot sites. Scope includes MW scale generators, battery based auxiliary power systems, inverters and other high power systems.
- Architecture development: Develop clean slate architecture for interfacing high voltage systems with field serviceable equipment, integrate protection equipment and meet stringent UL and automotive standards.
- Interface & Communication Coordination: Link High voltage components with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and vehicle/grid networks using protocols like CAN, Modbus TCP, I2C, optical links or SPI.
- Test Automation & Scripting: Write Python or C/C++ scripts to automate bring-up procedure, sequence high-power runs, and log real-time performance data.
- Failure & Root-Cause Analysis: Diagnose and troubleshoot problems on the field and feed data back to firmware and hardware design teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with electrical hardware, systems, firmware, mechanical, and thermal engineers to make sure systems meet safety standards (IEEE, NERC, UL) and performance goals.
- Bring-up and integration manual: Develop technical manuals that can be used by customers and internal teams for quick bring-up and testing
