What will you work on?
The Human Resources Manager will report to the Vice President, Human Resources, and serve as a strategic partner to the Distribution Center leadership team in Tracy, CA. This role will lead key HR programs and processes, driving organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and a positive employee experience within a high-volume operational environment.
How will you create impact?
Strategic Leadership & Culture
- Partner with the General Manager and Operations leadership to align HR strategy with throughput goals, seasonal labor demands, and talent forecasts.
- Champion a positive and inclusive culture for both Melissa & Doug employees and temporary workforce populations.
Communication & Influence
- Communicate clearly and professionally in both English and Spanish (verbal and written), ensuring consistent messaging across all levels of the organization.
- Act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, fostering transparency and engagement.
Employee Relations & Workplace Conduct
- Lead timely investigations related to conduct, attendance, harassment, and safety concerns; provide guidance on corrective actions and ensure accurate documentation.
- Maintain strong working relationships with employees to reinforce fair treatment and mitigate risk.
Training, Safety & Development
- Maintain compliance records for safety training and learning programs in partnership with Safety and Operations teams.
- Support OSHA compliance, Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP) execution, incident investigations, corrective action plans, and workers’ compensation/return-to-work cases.
Legal, Policy & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and company policies, including FLSA, FMLA/CFRA, ADA, OSHA, I-9/E-Verify, EEO, and personnel file requirements.
- Prepare and analyze reports and metrics to support HR decision-making and operational accountability.
Workforce Planning, Staffing & Onboarding
- Oversee full-cycle recruitment for hourly Distribution Center roles (Material Handlers, Forklift Operators, Leads, QC, Pick/Pack, VAS), including agency management and temp-to-hire pipeline.
- Coordinate seasonal workforce expansion to 200+ headcount, ensuring competitive markups, bill rates, and staffing scalability.
- Audit staffing agency invoices for accuracy and reconcile with contractual terms.
Compensation, Payroll & HR Operations
- Support payroll processing and workforce scheduling coordination as needed to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain and optimize HR systems, processes, and documentation, recommending improvements for efficiency and compliance.
What are your skills and experience?
- HR experience in a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Bilingual: English and Spanish (verbal and written)
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and analytical ability
- Demonstrated discretion and professionalism when handling confidential matters
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt, and solve problems proactively
- Experience coordinating meetings, events, or onboarding activities
The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $80,000 to $100,000 Per Annum. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc. Spin Master Inc. is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work only in other states.
