About Hightouch

Hightouch’s mission is to empower everyone to take action on their data. Hundreds of companies, including Autotrader, Calendly, Cars.com, Monday.com, and PetSmart, trust Hightouch to power their growth.

We pioneered the Composable Customer Data Platform (CDP), which lets companies use their own data warehouse to collect, prepare, and activate customer data for marketing personalization and business operations. Our new AI Decisioning platform goes a step further,  allowing marketers to set goals and guardrails that AI agents can then use to personalize 1:1 customer interactions. Traditionally, only technical teams had the skills to access and use customer data. With Hightouch, every business user can deliver personalized customer experiences, optimize performance marketing, and move faster by leveraging data and AI across their organization.

Our team focuses on making a meaningful impact for our customers. We approach challenges with a first-principles mindset, move quickly and efficiently, and treat each other with compassion and kindness. We look for team members who are strong communicators, have a growth mindset, and are motivated and persistent in achieving our goals.

What else? We’re based in San Francisco but have team members all over the world. Our Series C put us at a $1.2B valuation, and we are backed by leading investors such as Sapphire Ventures, Amplify Partners, ICONIQ Growth, Bain Capital Ventures, Y-Combinator, and Afore Capital.

About The Role

As our Human Resources Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving organizational excellence and ensuring every team operates at its highest potential. Reporting directly to our co-founders and co-CEOs, you’ll be a strategic partner in aligning the company around our goals, vision, and culture. You’ll help shape and scale our impact-driven environment, making Hightouch a place where people do the best work of their careers.

This is a highly collaborative, strategic role based in either San Francisco or New York.

Responsibilities
  • Lead all HR functions, including People Operations, HR Business Partners, and Workplace Operations—both strategic planning and day-to-day execution.

  • Own the onboarding and offboarding experience end-to-end, ensuring it’s thoughtful, human, and high-quality.

  • Build and maintain our headcount plan in partnership with finance and co-CEOs, ensuring teams are resourced to succeed now and in the future.

  • Partner with managers to raise the talent bar—equipping them with tools, feedback, and frameworks to lead high-performing teams.

  • Drive employee retention, engagement, and overall happiness across the organization.

  • Ensure fair, competitive, and transparent compensation practices, with a strong focus on equity and inclusion.

  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across all aspects of the employee lifecycle—from hiring to culture initiatives.

  • Co-lead internal communications with the co-CEOs, keeping the team informed, aligned, and connected.

  • Ensure that company strategy and changes to operations are communicated and documented quickly and transparently to the employees

Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience leading and scaling HR functions at a fast-growing startup.

  • Deep expertise across the HR stack—talent, performance, compensation, employee relations, DEI, and more.

  • Strong operator with a builder’s mindset—you thrive taking things from 0 → 1 and 1 → 100.

  • Strong alignment between people strategy and business goals.

  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships while maintaining confidentiality and emotional intelligence.

  • Proven ability to scale teams and drive engagement in a dynamic, high-growth environment.

  • Excellent communicator—you simplify the complex and bring clarity in every interaction.

  • Strategic thinker who anticipates company needs and acts proactively.

  • Deep knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

  • Skilled at identifying and diffusing organizational politics with empathy and discretion.

  • Genuine passion for people and culture—you care deeply about building an environment where people thrive.

Nice to Haves
  • Talent management and/or recruiting experience at a high growth startup.
Compensation

The salary range for this role is $160,000–$220,000 USD per year, location-independent per our remote-first compensation policy. We also offer meaningful equity in the form of ISO options, including early exercise and a 10-year post-termination exercise window.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
