Human Resource Generalist Position Overview

The Human Resource Generalist supports and enhances the daily operations of the Human Resources department by performing a wide range of administrative, operational, and employee‑facing responsibilities. This role will focus on recruiting, new‑hire onboarding, employee relations, HR reporting, and compliance with company policies and employment laws. The Generalist serves as a primary point of contact for employees and managers, ensuring effective communication to foster a positive, supportive workplace culture.

Human Resource Generalist Responsibilities

  • High volume full cycle recruiting for on-call seasonal employees across multiple states and including union positions.
  • Collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required open positions.
  • Handle employment‑related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex or sensitive matters to senior HR staff as appropriate.
  • Send requests and track progress of background checks, drug tests and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and track compliance with mandatory training programs. 
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations across multiple states.
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to recruitment, compensation, benefits, and leaves.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission and abide by our organizational values

Human Resource Generalist Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; SHRM-CP preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Human Resources experience in a multi-state, high-volume recruiting environment, supporting multiple business lines
  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations, investigations, and developing/delivering training programs
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., ADP) and Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to quickly learn new systems
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and time management; ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity and professionalism
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
