Program and Role Summary: 

Wayfinder's Human Resources department partners with leadership to attract, develop, and retain a high-performing workforce while fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture. It provides strategic guidance and operational support across talent management, employee relations, compliance, and organizational development to ensure people practices align with business goals.

The primary purpose of the HR Benefits Specialist position is to coordinate and conduct the agency’s benefits administration as well as provide administrative support in the areas of performance management, and leave of absences. The HR Benefits Specialist will be responsible for performing a variety of clerical and administrative functions such as, but not limited to, process new benefit enrollments, generate monthly and quarterly reports, maintain our HRIS system, and provide agency wide employee training. This is a non-exempt position that reports to the Senior Director of Human Resources.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative support to Senior Director of Human Resources and Director of Talent Management and Engagement.
  • Provides agency wide employee training, including new hire and benefit orientations and other human resources areas as directed by the Senior Director of Human Resources
  • Assists in managing the Leave of Absence (LOA) program. Responsible for tracking leave of absence documentation and sending notices to employees to ensure full compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Assists in monitoring the organization’s performance management program by reviewing performance appraisals, generating and distributing monthly performance appraisal reports to managers, processing merit increases, and updating information in Paycom and tracker.
  • Processes new benefit enrollment; maintain benefit records; coordinate open enrollment sessions and work with third party administrators.
  • Generates monthly and quarterly reports; develops queries and prepares unique data searches and reports as needed.
  • Ensures filing is completed and maintain all files in compliance with licensing requirements, labor laws, and other federal or state regulations governing employment records.
  • Assists in the organization of and participates in special events such as safety celebrations, employee appreciation events, years of service awards, job fairs, and other events.
  • Performs other duties as may become necessary or as directed.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of four years of administrative support experience is required
  • A minimum of two years of working knowledge in benefits administration and leave of absence experience in a Human Resources department is required.
  • Advanced computer skills and competency in the Microsoft Suite are required.
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices.
