We’re looking for a dedicated Payroll Supervisor to join our team. Reporting to the VP of Accounting Operations, you will manage and process multi-state domestic and international payroll. You will have a prominent role on the team to ensure accuracy with current payroll processes, seek opportunities to upgrade internal processes, with a focus on accuracy of employee service. As Payroll Supervisor, you will also manage relationships with vendors on system implementations, interfaces, upgrades and enhancements.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process for a 300+ employee organization in a fast-growing fintech company with multi-state operations
  • Perform payroll-related functions including: processing new hires, termination status changes, tax changes, wage garnishments, deductions, direct deposit and 401k
  • Oversee the maintenance of payroll records and files including vacation and other accrued leave
  • Maintain current knowledge of company procedures, employee handbook, benefit plans, and legal requirements to ensure reports are accurate and we comply with all regulations 
  • Manage bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual Payroll Tax reconciliations; and promote solutions for any discrepancies by partnering with the Payroll Service Provider 
  • Process and validate all Payroll Tax-related transactions including: new hires tax set-up, termination payments, taxability of benefit deductions, Federal/State/Local tax withholdings, Supplemental Income taxation, Taxable Fringe benefits, Visa tax exemptions, stock, and equity grants
  • Provide recommendations that lead to payroll tax strategies; recommends changes in structure, procedures, and methods related to the payroll tax; propose strategies for implementing changes; oversee the implementation of changes 
  • Manage the relationship with Payroll Tax Service Provider to ensure accurate Payroll Tax payments and filings with the appropriate federal, state, and local agencies including federal tax withholding, state withholding, unemployment tax, 941’s, 940’s, W-2’s, W-3, annual state filings, and employee wage reports
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of Quarterly and Annual Payroll Tax reconciliations to department management 
  • Manage company-wide pre and post-Payroll Tax processes in accordance to departmental internal controls and standards and in compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws 
  • Support the following audits: Annual 401k audit and Worker’s Compensation Audit, and work with our auditors to gather information/documents, review processes, schedule meetings, resolve issues, and ensure any gaps are remedied 
  • Interpret and provide advice regarding the payroll tax ordinance; recommend solutions to politically sensitive situations; interpret complex policies and situations, evaluates and grants exceptions to procedures 
  • Lead Payroll Tax-related operations and support Month-End, Quarter-End, and Year-End Payroll deliverables

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline 
  • HRIS/Payroll systems : Namely, UltiPro, Ceridian DayForce
  • Knowledge of the payroll function in a multi-state company including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes
  • Experience with equity and stock-based compensation payroll requirements
  • Knowledge in benefit programs, and compensation/equity principles and practices
  • Experience with monthly bonuses and commissions programs.
  • Experience with Excel (can perform complex functions)
