As the Manager, People Operations, you ensure Daves have high quality benefits and wellness programs and a trusted partner to handle their everyday employment needs, like payroll, immigration, leave of absences, etc. Under your leadership, we will build a solid HR data infrastructure that will eventually allow us to scale and surface new insights that support Dave to make faster, data-informed people decisions. You bring to bear your experience scaling organizations to help Dave get ahead of any issues that could arise and capitalize on any opportunities to support a world-class employment experience. 

What you'll do:

  • Set the strategic direction and ensure effective administration for all employee benefits programs such as Medical, Dental, Vision plans; Life Insurance plans; Short- and Long-Term Disability; Spending Accounts; 401k etc.
  • Build a strong relationship with Dave’s benefit’s brokers (Sequoia) and ensure we’re maximizing our partnership with them
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive wellness strategy for Dave that supports our business objectives
  • Develop strategy and approach for all benefits related communications to highlight and educate employees on Dave’s benefit programs and ensure maximum participation
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Dave’s benefits offerings and stay abreast of external benchmarking and trends to evaluate and deliver a competitive benefit program
  • Assess the effectiveness of Dave’s current HRIS system (Namely) in achieving organizational objectives and manage all implementations and integrations of vendors/carriers with Dave’s HRIS 
  • Oversee and ensure bi-weekly payroll is processed accurately and timely for 150 and growing US employees
  • Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax process and procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations
  • Manage and administer leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, CFRA, FFCRA, Parental Leave etc.)
  • Partner closely with the people partner team (HRBPs) and Dave people leaders on escalated leave cases to review case status and develop legally sound strategies for a mutually beneficial resolution
  • Stay ahead of COVID-19 related guidelines, ensuring Dave’s is implementing policies and providing appropriate resources related to LOA, Disability Programs, EAP, current and future work from home benefits
  • Oversee Dave’s immigration program including liaising with Dave’s immigration vendor (Envoy Global) and our external legal partner, and handling queries from managers and employees with guidance on all immigration-related matters, including visa processing, documentation, visa options, risks, etc. 
  • Develop a high performing, highly engaged team, ensuring team members are clear on what is expected of them as individuals and as part of the team, know where they stand against these expectations, and have the coaching to achieve their career goals

What you'll need:

  • 6 or more years of relevant payroll/benefits professional experience in high-growth, fast-paced organizations that prioritize people/talent as an advantage
  • 2 or more years of direct people manager experience 
  • Deep familiarity with payroll administration, payroll audit, and the application of best practice processes
  • Strong understanding of Federal and State regulations on Benefits, Retirement, Leaves of Absence
  • Knowledge & understanding of equity, mobility programs and multi-state tax theory
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills
  • Facility with quantitative and qualitative data analysis and using data to drive decision-making
  • Proven ability to adapt and quickly change direction when necessary in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to assess and provide input into the impact of a business process change
  • Great communication skills that can build strong working relationships with external advisors and internal teams
  • High degree of curiosity, analytical ability, detail-orientation
  • Can think strategically and act operationally
