Who we are
HopSkipDrive’s mission is to create opportunity for all through mobility. Our safe, innovative youth transportation solution is used by over 300 school districts, charter schools, government agencies and busy families to get kids where they need to go.
With nearly 500,000 yellow buses on the road every day and 3.5 billion miles driven a year, student transportation is the largest mass transit system in the US. And while districts spend $25 billion annually on transportation, only 30% of kids get to school everyday on a school bus. Add to the equation a crippling bus driver shortage and increasing needs for individualized transportation solutions, and it is clear the current system is expensive, inefficient and ripe for disruption.

You thrive on the success of others and know the organizational, strategic and personal levers that inspire individuals and teams to unlock their best potential.
Ever the trusted advisor, you can flex between the role of confidante and contrarian while navigating complex situations to align perspectives and take appropriate action. You step into the awkward or uncomfortable head on and release tension proactively and productively. You design and act with “being human” in mind, bringing empathy and objectivity to the programs and processes that support a dynamic and growing company. As Head of Talent, you will be a key partner to the leadership team, leading recruiting, HR and learning and development. You will take our team to the next level and will elevate the HopSkipDrive employee experience at each new phase of growth and change.
What you'll do
- Set overarching Talent (HR) strategy and ensure best-in-class execution across all functions
- Partner with executive leaders and across the organization to set the foundation and bring our culture to life ensuring the highest engagement and passion for our team and mission
- Lead the People Ops team in evolving programs (e.g. compensation, DE&I, performance management) and introduce benefits that are uniquely tailored to HopSkipDrive and targeted to retain and advance exceptional people
- Lead strategic recruiting efforts - develop approaches that build the brand within target talent pools to increase interest from relevant profiles, improve conversion and increasingly raise the bar for our diverse and committed team
- Bridge the gaps, listen to and share feedback as an active participant in key company conversations about growth, strategy and culture - be proactive and visible in driving follow ups and actions that reinforce and support individual and collective achievement
- Support broader communication and change management initiatives, both internal and external to HopSkipDrive
- Help build the capabilities of various cohorts of employees (e.g. managers, new hires, newly promoted) through customized learning and talent development programs
- Build an experience our employees love. We are a mission-driven company that cares deeply about what we do and the people who make it happen.
What you bring
- 8+ years of human resources, recruiting or talent thought leadership and progressive growth within associated roles
- Experience and demonstrated ability to lead a diverse team and drive results across the broad spectrum of related responsibilities
- Ability to balance the talent perspective within the broader business context to deliver resonant and targeted programs that will not only
- 5+ years in a high growth technology company
- Experience successfully scaling a talent organization to support an organization of hundreds of distributed employees
- Creativity and a willingness to think bigger, stretch further and challenge conventional thinking about what a talent function looks like
- Demonstrated project management skills and ability to work across functions. You can motivate others without direct reporting lines
- Ability to be a key partner to the executive team
- Excitement to mentor our current team and desire to build an exceptional team and retain top talent as we scale
