Astera Labs is looking for a motivated HR Systems & Program Management Intern to help bring the Manager Playbook to life on our employee-facing HR Hub portal. As a leader in AI infrastructure connectivity, we're scaling rapidly — and our People team is building the systems and tools that support 600+ employees worldwide.

This is a hands-on, high-impact internship at the intersection of HR and technology. You'll work directly with the HR and IT teams to coordinate the integration of the Manager Playbook into our employee portal, support the technical handoff of our HR Hub prototype, and help establish the content workflows that keep it running after launch. This isn't a passive support role — you'll own workstreams, drive coordination, and see your work go live.

Astera Labs operates across 15+ locations globally — including San Jose, Vancouver, Toronto, Taipei, Shanghai, Singapore, Haifa, Tel Aviv, Bengaluru, Aachen, and more. The Manager Playbook and HR Hub need to work for all of them. That means thinking through how content is structured, accessed, and maintained across regions, time zones, and varying employee experiences. You'll help ensure the portal isn't built for one audience — it's built for everyone.

If you're someone who loves both organizing complex projects and thinking about how systems scale across a global workforce, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

Track milestones, action items, and dependencies across HR and IT workstreams for the Manager Playbook portal launch
Prepare status updates and meeting materials for HR leadership
Coordinate between HR content owners and the IT portal team to keep the project on schedule
Identify blockers early and flag them to the right stakeholders
Engage with regional HR stakeholders (APAC, EMEA, Americas) to ensure the portal and playbook content reflects global needs and local nuances
Systems & Technical Support

Support the technical handoff of the HR Hub HTML prototype to the IT portal team
Help validate that the Manager Playbook content is correctly structured and surfaced within the portal
Assist with testing the audience toggle (employee vs. manager views) and verifying all links and integrations are functional (Darwinbox, ADP, SharePoint, Navex)
Help document the content management process so HR can update the portal independently post-launch
Documentation & Governance

Draft process documentation for how HR content will be maintained and updated over time
Support the creation of a lightweight QA checklist for content changes
Assist with go-live communications planning in partnership with HR and IT

Skills

Basic HTML/CSS literacy — able to read and understand a web prototype and have informed conversations with the IT portal team
Familiarity with content management systems such as SharePoint or Confluence
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Awareness of how HR systems connect — tools like Darwinbox, ADP, and Greenhouse don't need to be mastered, but an understanding of how they integrate is a plus
Program & Project Management

Ability to track milestones, action items, and dependencies across multiple teams
Comfortable coordinating between stakeholders to keep work on schedule
Able to identify blockers early and escalate appropriately
Strong documentation skills — process docs, QA checklists, and governance write-ups
Communication & Collaboration

Able to translate between technical (IT) and non-technical (HR) stakeholders clearly
Comfortable collaborating across time zones with regional teams in APAC, EMEA, and Americas
Strong written communication for status updates, process documentation, and go-live comms
Mindset

Self-starter — able to drive work forward with minimal direction
High attention to detail, especially for content validation and QA testing
Genuine curiosity about HR technology and how systems support the employee experience

Basic Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Human Resources, or a related field
Basic HTML/CSS comfort — able to read a prototype and understand how it's structured
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to work across technical and non-technical teams

Preferred Qualifications
Previous internship or coursework in project management, web development, or HR technology
Familiarity with SharePoint, Confluence, or similar content management tools
Interest in HR systems, employee experience, or digital transformation
Proactive, self-starter attitude — comfortable driving work forward with minimal direction
Interest in the technology or semiconductor industry

Why This Internship Matters
The HR Hub and Manager Playbook content is already built — written, reviewed, and ready to go. What's needed now is someone to make it real. This intern will directly support one of HR's top priorities for 2026: launching a centralized, self-service HR portal that reduces friction for employees and managers alike. Your work will be live and used by the entire company before the internship ends.

We know that creativity and innovation happen more often when teams include diverse ideas, backgrounds, and experiences, and we actively encourage everyone with relevant experience to apply, including people of color, LGBTQ+ and non-binary people, veterans, parents, and individuals with disabilities.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
