About the Role

We're looking for an HR Business Partner to help build high-performing teams and great managers as Order.co enters its next stage of growth.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves the partnership side of People work but also understands the operational foundation that makes a great employee experience possible.

You'll partner directly with leaders and managers across the business on performance, employee relations, talent development, team effectiveness, and day-to-day people challenges. You'll help managers become better leaders, identify issues before they become problems, and translate business needs into thoughtful People solutions.

You'll report to the SVP of People and have the opportunity to expand  your scope as Order.co continues to scale.

What You'll DoPartner With & Coach Managers
  • Serve as the day-to-day People partner for designated teams across Order.co, building a deep understanding of their goals, talent, and organizational challenges.
  • Coach managers on feedback, performance, development, communication, team dynamics, and employee engagement.
  • Help managers diagnose People challenges, think through their options, and take effective action rather than simply providing an HR answer.
  • Build trusted relationships with employees and leaders and serve as a thoughtful, accessible resource for People-related questions and challenges.
  • Identify themes across the teams you support and proactively surface opportunities to improve manager and team effectiveness.
Support Talent & Organizational Effectiveness
  • Partner with the SVP of People and business leaders on talent planning, organizational changes, role clarity, succession, and workforce planning.
  • Support performance and development cycles, talent reviews, and calibration processes.
  • Help leaders identify high performers, development opportunities, retention risks, and capability gaps.
  • Support organizational changes from planning through communication and implementation.
  • Translate company-wide People programs into effective execution within the teams you support.
Own Employee Relations & Performance Support
  • Coach managers through performance concerns, feedback, development plans, difficult conversations, and employee exits.
  • Manage employee relations matters with sound judgment, empathy, consistency, and appropriate documentation.
  • Conduct investigations and partner with the SVP of People and Legal on more complex or higher-risk situations.
  • Help ensure our policies and People practices are applied consistently while recognizing that good HR requires judgment in addition to strong process.
Roll up your sleeves

We're a lean People team, so no job is too small!

  • Partner closely with our Director of People Operations across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, leaves, benefits, employee changes, and HRIS workflows.
  • Build fluency in our People systems and processes and provide operational coverage if/when needed.
  • Help maintain accurate documentation, employee records, and People processes.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, document, automate, and improve recurring People workflows.
  • Pitch in across People initiatives and operational priorities as the needs of the business evolve.
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of progressive People/HRBP experience, ideally combining People generalist experience with dedicated business partnership.
  • 3+ years of experience as an HR Business Partner, People Partner, HR Generalist, or similar role directly supporting managers and employees.
  • Experience coaching managers through performance, feedback, development, employee relations, and other day-to-day leadership challenges.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to recognize when you can independently move something forward and when a situation warrants escalation or additional partnership.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including comfort navigating difficult or sensitive conversations.
  • A practical, solutions-oriented approach to People – you care about getting to the right outcome vs. adding process for the sake of process.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities evolve and roles aren't narrowly defined.
  • Curiosity about the business and a desire to understand how People decisions contribute to company performance.
We'd Be Especially Excited If You
  • Have worked at a growing company where People team members wear multiple hats.
  • Have supported a mix of functions such as Engineering, Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Operations.
  • Have experience with Rippling or similar modern HRIS platforms.
  • Want to continue developing as an HRBP and take on increasingly complex leadership, talent, and organizational work over time.
What Success Looks Like

WITHIN YOUR FIRST YEAR

  • Managers view you as a trusted partner and increasingly come to you early when navigating People and team challenges.
  • The teams you support receive consistent, high-quality People partnership without relying on the SVP of People for every decision.
  • Managers are more capable of handling feedback, performance, and employee challenges effectively.
  • Performance and employee relations issues are identified earlier and managed with greater consistency.
  • You've developed the judgment and organizational context to take on increasingly complex HRBP work as Order.co grows.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
