This role combines advanced technical support, data integration, and implementation responsibilities across both internal and external customer platforms. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in HLA lab workflows, SQL, HL7 interfaces, and a proactive, customer-focused mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

System Implementation & Support

  • Implement and configure CareDx and third-party LIS/LIMS platforms (e.g., mTilda, HistoTrac, Soft HLA), ensuring accurate system setup and workflow integration within HLA and transplant labs.
  • Deploy and maintain HL7 interfaces, including setup, custom filtering, and troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot application and interface issues related to operating systems (Windows 10/11), databases (SQL Server, Oracle), and VPN connectivity.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of software deployments, updates, and user training during go-live phases and beyond.
  • Participate in remote support, connectivity configuration (e.g., VPN, RDP), and system performance monitoring.

Technical Reporting & Data Management

  • Develop and optimize SQL queries and routines for system data extraction, performance tuning, and validation.
  • Create and maintain customized clinical and operational reports using SAP Crystal Reports.
  • Assist with data migration projects, including ETL scripting and data validation for transitions from legacy systems.

Customer Engagement & Documentation

  • Act as a key technical resource to internal teams and external clients throughout implementation and support phases.
  • Provide post-deployment technical support with a strong emphasis on customer service and timely issue resolution.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of system configurations, workflows, support protocols, and troubleshooting logs.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work independently and collaboratively with product, development, and clinical teams to improve system performance and user experience.
  • Stay current on relevant laboratory technologies and industry standards, contributing insights to enhance deployment and support practices.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience: 2–5 years of hands-on experience supporting LIS/LIMS platforms, ideally in an HLA or clinical laboratory environment.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries; experience with Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle.
  • Experience with SAP Crystal Reports development.
  • Working knowledge of HL7, lab instrument connectivity, and healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows systems, Active Directory, and VPN protocols.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and meet SLA-driven deadlines.
  • Availability for rotating on-call support (e.g., one week per month).

Preferred:

  • Experience with HLA lab workflows and systems (e.g., Fusion, MatchIT).
  • Exposure to biomedical systems engineering or healthcare IT environments.
  • Basic scripting or coding knowledge (e.g., Python, JavaScript, shell scripting).
  • Familiarity with IIS Web Services, website management, or cloud-based environments.

Success Metrics

  • Timely and accurate implementation of laboratory software platforms.
  • High-quality, customer-focused technical support and issue resolution.
  • Accurate, well-maintained documentation that supports long-term usability.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
