Position Summary:

The Health IT Lead will be the driving force behind Acadia’s EHR strategy, serving as the go-to expert in digital health solutions. This role blends high-level strategic vision with hands-on execution, designing impactful interventions and leading cross-functional implementation across therapeutic areas. Acting as a vital link between headquarters and field operations, the Health IT Lead empowers teams and customers to optimize workflows, enhance patient access, and elevate care delivery through innovative technology. This person should have strong knowledge of leading EHR platforms, deep experience working with provider systems, and the ability to balance strategy, operations, and compliance. The Lead provides direction to HIT Specialist, establishing consistent ways of working, setting priorities, and coaching field execution. The role requires independent judgment in translating brand, access, and compliance needs into actionable HIT strategies and solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a point of contact, SME and advisor on EHR capabilities and the HIT vendor landscape.
  • Shape HIT strategy and secure alignment with leadership and cross-functional partners, including but not limited to brand marketing, market access, and compliance
  • Internally, work with cross-functional account teams to translate brand and access needs into clear HIT requirements and solution concepts.
  • Externally, identify market-shaping opportunities and potential solutions with vendors and influencers to improve system access.
  • Lead vendor partnerships, managing contracts, budgets, and timelines while overseeing compliant delivery of scalable EHR-enabled tools and resources.
  • Partner with cross-functional account teams to shape pull-through strategy and execution, content/training generation, and local market execution plans.
  • Partner with IDN and Clinics IT leaders to identify areas of opportunity for interventions.
  • Engage with IDNs and Clinics on workflow assessments to identify opportunities for improved outcomes.
  • Educate on digital solutions needed to support health system collaborations, such as removing barriers, digitizing assets, etc.
  • Serve as a point of support for account teams to apply HIT strategies and resources appropriately.
  • Conduct education and share knowledge with other Acadia colleagues
  • Guide pilots and rollouts, ensuring adoption and seamless integration into provider systems.
  • Establish feedback loops with field teams to capture adoption barriers and operational challenges.
  • Report insights and Key Performance Indicators to refine future HIT strategy and execution.
  • Grow, lead and coach a team of other HIT Specialists, setting direction, driving consistent ways of working, and serving as the bridge between HQ strategy and field execution.

Skills Required:

  • Strong knowledge of major EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Athena, eClinicalWorks) and major 3rd party systems (clinical decision support, etc.)
  • Experience working with clinical workflows; designing and implementing HIT solutions in IDNs or complex health systems.
  • Ability to translate brand, clinical, and operational needs into compliant workflow interventions.
  • Experience working with HIT vendors, specialty pharmacies, and provider IT leaders.
  • Strong customer presence, skilled communicator able to translate technical concepts for broader audiences, able to influence without authority.
  • Experience coaching teams and driving clarity in matrixed organizations.
  • Integrity and commitment to compliance in a regulated environment.
  • Able to operate in two worlds: big-picture orientation with strong attention to detail, and interpersonal flexibility to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Health Informatics, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in Health IT, EHR/CDS, or clinical informatics within pharmaceutical, biotech, or health system settings.  At least 1-2 years of management experience.
  • Direct experience working with major EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Oracle, Athena).
  • Demonstrated success designing and implementing HIT solutions with IDNs, Clinics, or other complex health systems.
  • Proven track record managing vendors, budgets, and implementation projects.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% as required. This includes occasional travel to headquarters in San Diego, CA and/or Princeton, NJ. Must reside near a major airport to enable regional travel.

Strongly preferred:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MS, MPH, PharmD, MBA, or equivalent).
  • 7–10 years of progressive Health IT or clinical informatics experience.
  • Certifications such as Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, Registered Health Information Administrator/Registered Health Information Technician, or American Medical Informatics Association.
  • Familiarity with specialty pharmacy workflows and CNS therapeutic areas.
  • Experience leading teams, coaching direct reports, and establishing new capabilities.
  • Cross-functional experience with Market Access, Medical, Compliance, and Commercial partners.

Physical Requirements: 

This role involves regular standing, walking, sitting, and the use of hands for handling or operating equipment. The employee may also need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and maintain visual, verbal, and auditory communication both in a standard office environment and while working independently from remote locations. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  This position requires the ability to travel independently overnight and/or work after hours as required by travel schedule or business needs.

Requires eligibility to drive a company vehicle and ability to travel independently by air. Travel may be up to 75% of the time, including occasional after-hours work based on business needs.

In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is also eligible for discretionary bonus and equity awards based on factors such as individual and organizational performance. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance, and location. 

Salary Range
$124,000$155,000 USD
