About Nametag

Nametag is building the future of secure digital identity. Our mission is to protect every human identity to restore trust in the AI era. We bring workforce-grade identity verification integrated to the enterprise to verify the human behind accounts and critical actions. Today, many of the world’s leading brands have a Nametag for every global employee, preventing social engineering and deepfake impersonation attacks.

The role

We’re hiring a Head of Talent & People to own the full employee lifecycle and build our People function from the ground up. You’ll drive full cycle recruiting to scale Engineering, Product, and GTM while establishing HR infrastructure (onboarding, compliance, systems, and engagement). This is a builder-led, hands-on leadership role with a clear path to grow the People team.

What you’ll do

Talent Acquisition (60–70%)

  • Lead full cycle hiring: sourcing, interviewing, offers, and closing across technical and GTM teams.
  • Build diverse pipelines using creative sourcing and employer branding and agency support.
  • Standardize ATS, interview loops, and candidate experience to move quickly and consistently.
  • Develop and advise leadership on role definition, level stratification, and hiring standards.

People Operations & Culture (30–40%)

  • Design a remote-first onboarding experience that embeds our mission and values.
  • Own HR systems: HRIS, benefits administration, documentation, and scalable processes.
  • Ensure compliance for a distributed U.S. workforce while keeping operations low-friction.
  • Help codify values, run internal communications, and lead engagement initiatives (including quarterly off-sites).

Ideal qualifications

  • 4–8 years in Talent/People at fast-moving startups, ideally as an early hire.
  • Proven success hiring hard-to-fill technical and GTM roles.
  • Strong operational discipline—ATS, HRIS, documentation, and process-first mindset.
  • Experienced with remote-first teams and the nuances of distributed work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable representing the company externally and writing internal policy.

What we value

  • Fast technical learning and curiosity about identity security.
  • Kindness, integrity, and high trust—our core operating principles.
  • Bias for action: iterate quickly and ship pragmatic solutions.

Compensation & perks

  • Competitive salary + meaningful equity.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision.
  • Remote-first with flexible PTO.
  • Annual team off-sites.
  • New MacBook and home-office equipment.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
