About Hyer

Hyer Boots is igniting a new generation's passion for Western heritage with bold design, radical authenticity, and a disruptive go-to-market strategy. We’re on a mission to reclaim our legacy as the most iconic Western brand in America—and we’re just getting started.

About the Position

Serve as the on-the-ground driver who ensures information transparency: secure components at the right cost and timing while running Product Ops execution (sample logistics, tracking, and change control) to maintain the calendar schedule. Negotiate pricing with suppliers and ensure prices are reflected in factory costs. Work cross-functionally with product development and the country manager to achieve aligned goals.

Key Responsibilities

Materials & component sourcing (through TOP)

  • Track and manage delivery of component/material POs from factories to suppliers. Produce / maintain product and material price lists, MOQs, lead times; qualify alternates for A-styles and component substitutions for margin building programs
  • Deliver materials OTIF to factory; escalate shortages with options/solutions to hit original PD calendar delivery dates and adhere to original product PO XFD dates.

Daily supplier coordination

  • Lead a shortage board with factory purchasing/QA; clear blockers fast.
  • Feed real dates to Factory Manager for updating PO Tracker, as well as other cross functional teams through NPT summary and report out + inline PO tracking and updates

Reporting & hygiene

  • Publish a material “red/yellow list” weekly with owner/next action.
  • Keep vendor files clean (pricing, SLAs, contacts, CBSs)
  • Support audits and compliance checks on an ongoing and quarterly basis for large ticket items. (Ex. Master Leather List / Heel and outsole componentry list that is updated and ready for use for key PD deliverables, by factory, for briefing / proto and line close)

Supplier pricing negotiation

  • Continuously negotiate competitive pricing with component suppliers; document and track savings.
  • Ensure supplier price updates are correctly reflected in factory costs and BOMs.
  • Collaborate with finance to quantify impact of material price changes on product margins.
  • Develop cost-saving initiatives with suppliers while maintaining quality standards.

Product Ops (owner/operator)

  • Own the New Product Tracker (NPT) (proto/fit/PP/TOP): dates, bookings, WIP, and gold-seal version control.
  • Run Change Control after Cost/BOM Lock: open CRs, quantify cost/lead-time deltas with PC & Finance, route for approvals (VP PC + Finance), and publish outcomes.
  • Book factory slots for proto/fit/PP/TOP; ship/track samples; ensure gold seals return to HQ and all steps/dates are effectively communicated, in real time, to the appropriate team and team members.
What you’ll bring
  • 10+ years in sourcing/materials or production in footwear/apparel; Mexico factory exposure required.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English.
  • Strong vendor relationships.
  • Excel/Google Sheets power user; data-driven and relentless follow-through.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
