Company Overview:
We are building Protege to solve the biggest unmet need in AI — sharing and accessing the right training data. The process today is time-intensive, incredibly expensive, and often ends in failure. The Protege platform facilitates the secure, efficient, and privacy-centric exchange of AI training data.
Solving AI's data problem is a generational opportunity. The company that succeeds will be one of the largest in AI — and in tech. We’re founded by multi-exit founders with billion-dollar outcomes, raised a $10M seed round from top firms, and have incredible early velocity. Joining Protege at this stage is not a typical 9-to-5 job. It’s an opportunity for someone who’s hungry, resourceful, and determined to build a durable, important, valuable business from the ground up — someone who thrives in ambiguity, leads by doing, and is ready to do what it takes to create lasting impact. The path will be challenging, but for the right person, the outcome will be career-defining.
We are seeking a dynamic Head of Sales to lead and build our sales organization for our media vertical. Audiovisual content, ranging from movies and TV to news and sports, is incredibly valuable as AI training data. However, AI companies face many challenges when sourcing media training data. Protege solves these data fragmentation, copyright and infringement, and AI usability problems.
As the Head of Sales, Media, you will play a critical role in shaping our sales strategy and driving revenue growth as a team of one, establishing the function before building a team. This is a hands-on, quota-carrying role that requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of success in early-stage companies, a relentless attitude, and appetite and ability to execute on tactical and strategic work.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Close deals with data buyers in media, owning the end-to-end sales process from prospecting to negotiating through closing
-
Cultivate strategic partnerships to expand our network and data offerings
-
Help us continue to segment the market and define priorities among those segments
-
Collaborate with our GM of Media to define the strategy and resourcing plan for the media vertical
Requirements:
-
You are curious, tenacious, and proactive. You’re energized by the challenge and opportunity to build a function from scratch in a lean, scrappy, and rapidly evolving environment.
-
Success as the first sales hire or with closing deals in a fast-paced environment without many resources to help you. You’ve lived the experience of driving sales in a nascent company without inbound leads or an established brand.
-
Ability to structure creative deals for win-win-wins
-
You’ve sold highly technical products or services where AI is a key driver of value. You’re technically fluent and can communicate complex information to diverse audiences clearly. You're passionate about the incredible opportunity the AI transformation presents. You stay up-to-date about AI trends and market developments.
