The Head of Rentals is a strategic leader responsible for the success and growth of the Rentals business line. This role involves driving revenue, improving profitability, and ensuring seamless collaboration across multiple functions such as Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Analytics, and Customer Experience. As a key driver of the Zillow Rentals partnership, this position requires both strategic vision and operational excellence to meet corporate objectives and enhance consumer and partner experiences.

What You'll Do

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute strategies to expand the Rentals business in evolving market conditions, in collaboration with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Analytics, and Consumer Experience teams.

  • Product Development: Lead product strategy and execution for both consumer and partner experiences, guiding the direct-report product team to deliver innovative, data-driven solutions that boost engagement, partner value, and market differentiation. 

  • Commercial Success: Manage the Rentals P&L, including revenue generation, operating expenses, and staffing levels. Lead the implementation of strategic decisions to enhance revenue and profitability.

  • Partnerships: Drive the commercial success of the Zillow Rentals partnership and establish productive relationships with key partners and prospects to acquire Rentals content for the platform.

  • Operational Metrics: Define and monitor KPIs and accountability frameworks to achieve targets such as lead submission rates and consumer engagement across Rentals channels.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align with Product, Technology, and Marketing teams to achieve shared revenue goals and ensure the necessary support.

  • Financial Management: Work with Finance to develop revenue forecasts and budgets aligned with corporate goals.

  • Based in Austin, TX our headquarters.
  • Acting P&L owner for the Rentals business line.

  • Collaborates as a peer with senior leaders in Product, Engineering, Marketing, Analytics, and other functions.

  • Provides indirect leadership to core support teams including Operations, Finance, and Human Resources.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in business operations, analytics, or marketing and 7+ years of management experience.

  • Proven experience in P&L ownership within a consumer marketplace, ideally in residential real estate.

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage data for decision-making and alignment.

  • Strong execution capabilities with a history of collaboration across departments.

  • Skilled in setting and achieving ambitious goals while managing organizational change effectively.

  • Track record of building and mentoring highly engaged teams, with accountability for results.

  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and consensus-building skills.

  • Proficient in analytics and metric-driven best practices.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Experience in rentals, digital media, residential real estate, lending, or related industries preferred.

  • Proficiency in Google Sheets and Google Slides.
