Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Sporting Director, the Head of Recruitment will be responsible for helping drive and manage talent identification, scouting, player evaluation, and player acquisition for Angel City FC. 

In collaboration with the designated heads of departments (Head Coach, Operations, Medical & Performance, Strategy & Analytics), this position will assist in developing scouting processes, including data, intelligence, and video scouting, as well as critical relationship building and the development of a global scouting network aligned with ACFC’s sporting strategy.

The Head of Recruitment will be responsible for the maintenance of a scouting database and club depth charts, providing detailed reports to key stakeholders, and providing a data-driven approach to scouting and recruitment on behalf of the club. 


Responsibilities:

  • Align with and develop tactics aligned to ACFC’s recruitment strategy
  • Creation and delivery of a comprehensive player identification and evaluation system, which includes detailed, evidence-based positional profiles aligned to club playing principles, depth charts, and player grading systems, video and live observation of players
  1. Work with the Technical Director to develop scouting templates and procedures supporting Angel City’s style and philosophy - a consistent template for evaluation criteria.
  2. Manage resources around three core areas of intelligence gathering
    1. Video - Watching games and utilizing video providers (e.g, Spiideo/Wyscout/instat) to watch broadcast footage.
    2. Data - via objective providers and other proprietary ACFC tools.
    3. Intel - local market intelligence via the scouting network and relationships
  • Development of scouting networks and processes across all relevant markets, which deliver regular, consistent, and reliable reporting of players from initial identification to final confirmation
  • Close working relationships with internal personnel, coaches,  staff, and some agents to gather intel on potential targets and the scouting strategy of opponents
  • Build compelling business cases for delivery to ACFC Football Management Team, taking into account existing and new roster construction strategies, current roster needs, and potential special qualities. 

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • You are likely to have 5+ years of experience in elite soccer talent identification and/or technical teams.
  • You work well within a collaborative, team-driven, and goal-based environment.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, facilitation, and team leadership. 
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent multitasker with the ability to maintain complete confidentiality.
  • You have a strong professional and positive presence/image to represent ACFC both internally and externally.
  • You have a high EQ and the ability to communicate critical information with senior leadership and sporting stakeholders (including Sporting Director, Technical Director, Head Coach, etc.)
  • Being a market expert in NCAA women’s soccer is preferable, across talent identification, relationships, and professional transition strategies
  • Ability to speak multiple languages (preferred but not required).

Compensation:

  • In addition to the benefits above, this role has a pay range between $170,000 - $ 185,000 annually.
