Head of Quality Engineering and Assurance
Reporting to: Senior Producer
Key responsibilities

Strategic planning: Define, execute, and refine the project, technology, and personnel strategy for multiple projects, ensuring alignment with overall company product and operational objectives.

Team and project management: Oversee multiple product teams, manage test leads, develop testing strategy and measures to evaluate success of quality initiatives, ensure project deliverables meet quality standards on time and within budget.

Process improvement: Implement and maintain best practices for testing methodologies, as well as innovate to find new methods or deliverables to provide the highest quality deliverables for both functional and non-functional testing
Quality Tools and Automation: Oversee the architecture and implementation of test automation frameworks, automated test reporting, build health alerts, and tools that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Quality Engineering and Quality Assurance teams.

Cross-functional initiatives: Work closely with engineering, design, production, and other departments to integrate QA and influence left shifting quality practices. Develop innovative solutions consistent with the TGC brand to improve product quality and quality technology.

Stakeholder communication: Act as the primary point of contact for all QA matters, regularly communicating with studio leadership, executive teams, and external partners and vendors.

Compliance and certification: Manage the submission and certification processes for console platforms (PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo) to ensure compliance with their requirements.

Must Haves: Required qualifications and experience

  • Education: Masters in CS (or related degree) or 5+ years experience working as an engineer in a live service capacity

  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years in video game quality assurance or engineering, with a significant portion in a leadership role, ideally 4+ years leading multidisciplinary teams.

  • Shipped titles: Proven experience successfully shipping multiple titles from start to finish, as well as experience supporting a product in a live service environment.

  • SaaS experience: Experience with supporting live service products and SaaS products, minimizing friction points for fast turnaround testing and enabling live deploys through CI or other relevant validation efforts

  • Proven experience leading and integrating an innovative solution that improved product quality.

  • Experience in growing talents, ideally in the adjacent areas.

Technical skills:

  • Proficiency with bug tracking and test case management tools (e.g., Jira, Hansoft, Testrail).

  • Experience with various testing types, including functional, performance, regression, usability, user experience, and automated testing.

  • Ability to oversee engineering and scripting efforts, including but not limited to automated testing via Python or API driven headless testing efforts as well as the creation of new testing tools and automation frameworks.

Leadership and soft skills:

  • Excellent leadership, people management, and mentorship skills.

  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage change and delegate effectively.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Passion for games and a strong commitment to quality.


Desired skill and certifications

  • Experience with cross platform live service games.

  • Experience in managing external QA vendors and negotiating contracts.

  • Familiarity with developing and implementing key performance indicators (KPIs) for QA efforts.

  • CTEL, PMP

The salary range for this position is $95,000 USD to $145,500 USD annually, with the opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices.
Employees in this position are eligible to participate in the Company’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, and paid time off.
