About The Position | Major goals and objectives and location requirements 

Studio at People Inc. is the creative engine powering branded content for some of the world’s most iconic brands. We produce at the intersection of editorial credibility, cultural fluency, and creative innovation. The production team is the backbone of this operation, turning bold creative into polished, authentic work that delivers impact for clients and audiences. The Head of Production is the senior-most production leader at Studio at People Inc. This role sets the vision and strategy for how production operates across the studio, ensuring the discipline delivers both creative excellence and business impact.

The Head of Production is a critical leadership role responsible for the financial health, operational efficiency, and overall execution of all production needs within the Lifestyle revenue group. This leader will own the production P&L, define the integrated production roadmap, and lead an integrated team of Producers and Content Creators to deliver campaigns on time, on budget, and at the highest standard of quality.

This is a hybrid role based in New York City, with three days in-office to lead, connect, and drive production excellence across the organization.

In-office Expectations: This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

Production Strategy & Business Alignment

 

  • Define the long-term production strategy by establishing a forward-looking production roadmap that anticipates market and business needs (e.g., social and events)

  • Set the vision for how production operates across the Lifestyle Group, aligning day-to-day execution with larger Studio and company objectives. 

  • Identify investment areas for talent, technology, and processes to ensure production meets current demands and scales to meet future needs.

  • Establish clear guardrails for how production decisions are made, including budget approval thresholds, escalation protocols, and staffing models. 

  • Ensure financial accountability and operational consistency while providing producers with the flexibility to move quickly and maintain creative excellence.

  • Accountable for the annual production P&L for the Lifestyle Group, partnering with Finance and Executive Leadership on forecasting, resourcing, and revenue alignment conversations.

  • Ensure production contributes directly to revenue goals by accurately projecting resource needs, managing COGs, and surfacing opportunities for efficiency that strengthen the bottom line.

  • Drive innovation in production workflows, integrating emerging technologies (AI, virtual production, automation) where they enhance efficiency and creative impact.

Leadership and Escalation

  • Partner with the Head of Creative Services to translate creative concepts into feasible, fiscally responsible production plans.

  • Serve as the senior escalation point for all production functions, resolving conflicts between creative ambition, social fluency, and financial feasibility.

  • Ensure Executive Producers, the Executive Director of Line Production, and the Executive Producer of Social operate within clear swim lanes and shared accountability models.

  • Provide oversight of vendor partnerships, risk management, and high-value commitments above delegated thresholds.

  • Protect creative ambition while safeguarding fiscal responsibility and operational feasibility.

Talent Development and Culture

  • Identify skills gaps in the production team and reduce reliance on contractors for core production functions.

  • Lead and mentor senior production leaders, ensuring succession planning and long-term organizational strength.
    Foster a culture of authenticity, inclusivity, and collaboration across the production discipline.

  • Champion professional growth, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing across the producer community.

  • Ensure that production teams deliver work that is polished, modern, and authentic — never overly commercial or overproduced.

  • All other duties as assigned.
      

The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements

Education:

  •   B.A. or B.S. in Marketing/ Advertising, or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in production roles across media, advertising, or content studios.

  • Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary production teams across formats (print, video, social, experiential).

  • Strong financial acumen, including oversight of multi-million-dollar budgets, overages, and complex vendor negotiations.

  • Experience building scalable production systems, staffing models, and workflows.

  • Track record of delivering both creative and operational excellence at scale.

 

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:

  • Executive-level leadership and decision-making skills.

  • Exceptional ability to balance creative ambition with operational and financial realities.

  • Strong communication skills, able to represent production to executive leadership, clients, and partners.

  • Deep knowledge of social platforms, editorial storytelling, and emerging creative technologies.

  • Ability to inspire, mentor, and grow senior leaders and their teams.

Pay Range

Salary: New York: $150,000.00 - $180,000.00

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of People Inc's total compensation package for employees.
