We’re hiring our first Head of Product to define, build, and scale the BackOps product vision. You’ll own the strategy and execution across our platform, working directly with the founders, engineering, and customers.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the product direction of a fast-growing, AI-native startup. The ideal candidate has taken products from 0→1, is comfortable working in high-ambiguity environments, and has experience (or strong interest) in AI/ML-driven products.

What You’ll Do
• Own the product strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer needs.
• Lead discovery with enterprise customers and translate insights into actionable product requirements.
• Work hand-in-hand with engineering and design to ship high-impact features quickly and iteratively.
• Balance short-term execution with long-term vision, prioritizing effectively in a resource-constrained environment.
• Define success metrics and establish product development best practices.
• Represent product in customer, partner, and investor conversations.
• Build and eventually scale a world-class product team.

What We’re Looking For
• 5+ years in product management
• Proven track record of taking products from 0→1 and scaling in a startup or high-growth environment.
• Experience with B2B SaaS, workflow automation, or enterprise software.
• AI/ML experience strongly preferred (either building or productizing AI technologies).
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to influence across teams and stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurial mindset—comfortable with ambiguity, bias to action, and focus on outcomes.

Why BackOps
• Build the product vision for a company redefining global supply chain operations.
• Work with a small, high-performing team where your impact is immediate.
• Backed by incredible investors and advisors.
• Competitive salary, meaningful equity, and comprehensive benefits.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
