We're Sharp Performance

Sharp Performance exists so that everyone who answers the call has someone in their corner who has walked in their shoes.

We help first responders and their spouses thrive through confidential coaching from people with similar lived experience. Our coaches have carried the badge, worn the gear, or stood beside someone who did. Through our mobile platform, we connect law enforcement, firefighters, and other frontline professionals with coaches who understand the job because they have lived it.

We're early-stage and backed by amazing investors. The team is small enough that your work shows up in the rollout, the product, and the customer's experience within weeks. If building something that matters alongside people who hold a high standard sounds better than a safe seat somewhere else, come build it with us.

The Opportunity

Sharp Performance is hiring a Head of Product to own our product vision, strategy, and roadmap, and to build a product that first responders want to open every day. You will report to the CEO and work with Engineering, Design, Sales, Customer Success, and our coaching team to take product from founder-led to a disciplined, customer-driven function that balances consumer-grade craft with the realities of selling to agencies.

This is not a role you run from behind a dashboard. Our customers are cops and firefighters, and the person who wins here wants to be in the room with them: at the station, at the academy, on the ride-along, learning what they need by watching them use it. You are technical enough to go deep with engineering and earn their respect. You reason from the customer and the data, not from opinion. You have the backbone to tell the CEO no when the data says no, and the judgment to bring a better option when you do. You carry the craft of a great consumer product into a B2B world that rarely sees it.

How You'll Make an Impact

You own Sharp's product strategy end to end: what we build, why, and in what order. You hold a high bar for quality and experience and build a B2B product with the polish of the best consumer apps. When the tradeoffs are hard, you reason from the customer and the data, explain them clearly, and make a real recommendation, even when it is unpopular.

You stay close to the user. You sit with cops and firefighters, watch them use the product, and turn what you see into a clear, prioritized signal for what to build next. You define the outcomes and metrics that tell us whether the product is extending the service-life of the people who use it.

You partner across the company and build the team. You hold detailed technical conversations with engineering and weigh architecture and effort honestly. You align Sales, Customer Success, and coaching so the roadmap reflects what the market and our users need. You start hands-on as a player-coach, then hire, coach, and develop the product team as Sharp scales.

What You'll Need to Succeed

You have led the development of more than one product through real, high growth, not a single feature. You have built for business buyers and hold the craft bar of a great consumer product. Experience in public safety, govtech, digital health, or human performance is a strong plus, not a requirement.

You also bring:

  • Technical fluency: you can hold a detailed conversation with engineering and earn their respect
  • Customer obsession: time in the field with cops and firefighters energizes you rather than inconveniences you
  • Backbone: you tell the CEO no when the data says no, and you bring a better option
  • Range from strategy to hands-on execution in an early-stage, fast-moving company

Why You'll Want to Be Here

You will own the product function at a Series A company already working with 100+ public safety agencies, and your work helps improve the health, performance, and longevity of the people who run toward danger. Sharp is a small, fast-growing team, and our success starts with the people doing the work.

The package includes:

  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance for you and your family
  • Flexible PTO
  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity that reflect the seniority of the role
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Unlimited access to the Sharp Performance platform and our coaches

Sharp Performance is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and encourage individuals of all backgrounds to apply. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
