Lead and scale the Audience & Content team, overseeing product marketing and developer relations while directly engaging in strategy and content creation.
The summary above was generated by AI

At Timescale, we empower businesses with real-time insights from their data, allowing them to make faster decisions and optimize operations. We are creating a movement to unblock developers who are building the future. Timescale is a product-led growth organization driven by transparent leaders and a globally diverse, remote-first team that is proudly building a modern PostgreSQL cloud platform.

Timescale is the cloud-native PostgreSQL platform used by developers building real-time, time-series, and AI applications. Built on the foundation of Postgres, trusted by thousands of engineering teams, and loved for its power, performance, and flexibility, Timescale helps teams scale faster with fewer tradeoffs.

Our audience is deeply technical. They value signal over noise, clarity over hype, and utility over fluff. Our marketing must reflect that.

We’re hiring a hands-on marketing leader to own and scale our Audience & Content engine—the team responsible for:

  • Product Marketing

  • Developer Relations

  • Documentation and Education

  • Partner Co-Marketing

  • Community Strategy (both high-touch and low-touch)

  • Content Across the Developer Journey

This engine works in lockstep with our Distribution & Ops team, which ensures your team’s content is scaled and amplified across SEO, paid, web, social, events, and more. Together, these two teams drive Timescale’s go-to-market (GTM) motion.

This is not a pure leadership role. It’s a player-coach position. You’ll lead a team—but you’ll also contribute directly to strategy, messaging, content creation, and key programs. You’ll guide launches, shape our narrative, and personally engage with partners, community leaders, and developers.

What you will be responsible for in this role:

  • Define and lead the Audience & Content GTM strategy, in close alignment with Product, Sales, and Distribution & Ops

  • Co-develop and continuously refine our positioning and messaging—broad and specific, deep and simple

  • Guide your team to run end-to-end product launches: positioning, enablement, campaign coordination, and ongoing adoption

  • Oversee a holistic content strategy that spans documentation, blogs, guides, onboarding, enablement, and developer education

  • Shape our community strategy, including:

    • High-touch programs: Champions, advocates, and strategic customers

    • Low-touch programs: Scalable, self-serve content and community channels

  • Direct our partner marketing efforts—co-creating content and campaigns with ecosystem and integration partners

  • Build and manage a high-performing team of experienced ICs and managers

  • Personally contribute to strategic, high-impact projects (e.g., positioning, major launches, flagship content)

  • Collaborate tightly with the Distribution & Ops team leader to ensure content is maximized for reach, impact, and continuous feedback

About You
  • You’ve led product marketing and/or developer marketing teams in dev tools, infrastructure, or database companies

  • You’ve managed managers, scaled cross-functional teams, and know how to empower leaders while keeping a high bar

  • You’re a strong executor: you can write crisp messaging, edit a blog, structure a GTM plan, or jump into a content review

  • You bring technical fluency—enough to converse with engineers and translate complex ideas into developer-first messaging

  • You’ve built or scaled developer communities, education content, and/or ecosystem programs that grow awareness and trust

  • You operate seamlessly at both the strategic and tactical level—able to define long-term vision and ship day-to-day projects

You could be a great fit if you have:
  • Deep familiarity with database technologies

  • A background in open-source, community-led, or partner-centric companies

  • Managed a team of managers and/or senior ICs

  • Prior ownership of documentation, learning programs, or developer onboarding

You might not be a great fit if:
  • You are located outside of the Bay Area or New York City.

  • You aren't comfortable with a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities can shift quickly.

  • You prefer a highly structured role with clearly defined tasks and responsibilities.

  • You're risk-averse and prefer stability over the potential for high growth.

Our Commitment:

  • We will respond to all applicants

  • We strive to review all applications fairly, without bias, and shortlist based on relevant skills and experience.

  • All active candidates will be informed of what is happening next in the process.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
