Company Overview:

Rangeview is on a mission to build the foundry system that reindustrializes America. We exist to break the legacy manufacturing trap by reinventing critical production for the twenty‑first century. Through advanced software, deep automation, breakthroughs in materials science, and modern financing strategies, Rangeview rewrites both the cost curve and the power structure of making metal parts.

Job Summary:

Rangeview is a fast-growing manufacturing and R&D company building next-generation industrial technology. As we scale from R&D into full production, we are hiring a Head of People to build and lead our People function end to end.

This foundational role will be responsible for creating the People systems, policies, and culture that will support a regulated, hardware-driven business as it scales. This role offers strategic ownership, executive-level impact, and the opportunity to shape the future of an industrial company from the ground up.

This position is an onsite role based in El Segundo / Greater Los Angeles area (California).

Responsibilities:

People Strategy and Leadership

  • Serve as the senior HR leader and strategic partner to the CEO, CFO, and executive team
  • Design and execute the company’s people strategy aligned with business growth, manufacturing scale, and funding milestones
  • Build HR policies, processes, and governance appropriate for a venture-backed, regulated manufacturing environment

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Own workforce planning, headcount forecasting, and role sequencing in partnership with finance and operations
  • Lead all recruiting strategy and execution across engineering, manufacturing, operations, finance, and leadership roles
  • Design and implement scalable hiring processes, structured interview frameworks, and consistent hiring standards
  • Manage internal recruiting resources and external search partners

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Own all HR operations, including onboarding, offboarding, employee records, and HR systems
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations, including California labor law and federally regulated environments
  • Oversee compliance-driven hiring requirements such as background checks, export control, and ITAR-related processes
  • Partner with legal and finance to manage employment agreements, policies, and documentation

 Performance, Retention & Culture

  • Design and implement performance management frameworks, feedback cycles, and career development paths
  • Build compensation, leveling, and equity frameworks aligned with company growth and market benchmarks
  • Develop and execute retention strategies for critical technical and operational talent
  • Shape and reinforce company culture as the organization scales

 Systems & Infrastructure

  • Own and optimize HRIS, ATS, and people analytics systems (e.g., Rippling, Greenhouse, or similar)
  • Establish people metrics and dashboards (headcount, attrition, hiring velocity, engagement)
  • Continuously improve HR processes for scale, clarity, and efficiency

Required Skills / Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in HR or people operations with clear career progression and increasing scope of responsibility
  • Demonstrated experience owning the full HR lifecycle, including recruiting, compliance, performance management, compensation, and employee relation
  • Prior experience building or scaling people processes in a startup or high-growth environment
  • Strong working knowledge of California employment law and HR best practices
  • Proven ability to partner with executive leadership on organizational design and workforce planning
  • Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on in an evolving organization
  • Strong judgment, communication, and stakeholder-management skills

Preferred Skills / Experience:

  • Experience in manufacturing, hardware, aerospace, defense, robotics, energy, or other industrial environments
  • Familiarity with regulated or compliance-driven workforces (e.g., ITAR, export controls, government contracting)
  • Experience scaling a company from ~20–30 employees to 100+
  • Prior experience supporting a venture-backed company through Series A or Series B
  • Experience partnering closely with finance on compensation, equity, and headcount modeling
  • Experience implementing or scaling HRIS / ATS systems (e.g., Rippling, Greenhouse, Lever, etc.)

Summary Pay Range:

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
