DoubleZero Foundation is looking for a Head of People to lead our recruiting and people operations as we scale a global team building the future of blockchain networking infrastructure. In this role, you’ll shape the way we attract, evaluate, and grow top talent — from world-class network engineers to operational leaders. You’ll also establish the systems, processes, and culture that enable our team to thrive in a distributed-first environment.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Recruiting excellence. Own the full-cycle recruiting process for technical and non-technical roles, with a particular emphasis on sourcing and closing deeply technical hires — from network engineers and infrastructure specialists to data and protocol researchers. Build and maintain strong pipelines across engineering, product, operations, and ecosystem roles.

  • People operations. Design and implement core people systems: onboarding, performance management, compensation frameworks, compliance, and global remote work policies. Ensure DoubleZero’s people operations scale effectively as our team grows.

  • Employer brand. Collaborate with leadership and communications to position DoubleZero as a destination for top blockchain and networking talent. Craft narratives that showcase our mission, technical challenges, and team culture to the global community.

  • Advisor and partner. Serve as a trusted partner to leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, and people-related strategy. Provide guidance on hiring priorities, retention, and culture-building.

  • Build for scale. Create repeatable recruiting processes, leverage AI-powered talent tools, and establish metrics-driven systems to evaluate and improve hiring and retention outcomes.

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in recruiting and people operations, including at least 3 years focused on technical recruiting.

  • Demonstrated success hiring network engineers, infrastructure specialists, or other deeply technical roles — you’re comfortable diving into technical requirements and evaluating candidate fit.

  • Experience building and leading recruiting processes in high-growth or startup environments.

  • Knowledge of people operations best practices, including onboarding, compensation, performance management, and compliance in remote/distributed teams.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Experience using AI and modern recruiting tools to enhance candidate sourcing and assessment is a plus.

  • Passion for blockchain, distributed systems, and the mission of building new internet infrastructure.

Personal Attributes
  • Technically fluent recruiter. You can engage meaningfully with deeply technical candidates, translating complex requirements into compelling opportunities.

  • Builder’s mindset. You thrive in early-stage environments and enjoy creating scalable systems where none exist.

  • Mission-driven. You’re energized by DoubleZero’s vision of building a global base layer network for distributed systems.

  • Trusted partner. You balance empathy with accountability, and you know how to counsel leaders on people matters with discretion and clarity.

  • Culture shaper. You understand how values, processes, and behaviors combine to form culture, and you’re proactive in steering it in positive directions.

ABOUT DOUBLEZERO

DoubleZero is a decentralized, permissionless protocol that revolutionizes network performance for distributed systems like blockchain. The mission is simple: increase bandwidth and reduce latency.

DoubleZero increases bandwidth by filtering junk data that currently plagues validators and other network operators. DoubleZero reduces latency by connecting these filters with underutilized private fiber links in the form of a mesh network. By combining these improvements and routing the right data through optimized, low-latency paths, the DoubleZero protocol empowers blockchains and other systems to reach performance levels that are currently impossible.

In short, DoubleZero is a new Internet for distributed systems. It is supported by two organizations: DoubleZero Foundation, which drives the adoption, decentralization, security, and advancement of the protocol; and Malbec Labs, which develops the technical components of the protocol itself. We look forward to hearing from you.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
