HoneyBook is the leading AI-powered business management platform for service-based business owners. Designed to enhance—not replace—independent professionals, HoneyBook’s AI-powered tools help businesses attract leads, connect with clients, book projects, and manage payments more efficiently. With AI seamlessly integrated into every workflow, entrepreneurs can focus on their craft while scaling their businesses with confidence. Since its founding in 2013, HoneyBook has powered over 25 million client relationships and processed more than $12 billion in transactions, helping independent businesses grow faster and smarter.

Our culture is built on five core values that inform everything we do. We encourage collaboration, feedback, ownership, and have a growth mindset. We know experience comes in many forms, some visible on your resume, others not. No one candidate will be a 100% perfect match to our description, so if you thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually-charged environment and have similar experience to what we are looking for, we encourage you to apply.

Your opportunity:

We’ve built something special at HoneyBook and from the beginning we’ve been an organization that has been talent obsessed. At every turn, we’ve placed an unprecedented amount of attention on our people and our culture, and today you can see the results of these decisions reflected everywhere in the company.

We have a good foundation in place, and as the Head of People for our US team, you’ll be entrusted with building upon what we’ve worked so hard to create. There’s still much for you to shape and impact, and we’re looking to your skills, experience, energy, and creativity to bring our entire organization to a new level.

Your task will be to align our people strategy with our business goals, building upon the strong base we’ve already developed — all the while keeping a lock-tight grip on our culture as we grow. You’ll own our people strategy for our US-based employees, always looking down the road to identify what will be needed next in terms of process, initiatives, structure and talent, and will  also help create and drive key people initiatives for our global HoneyBookers. If you like to scale, and love a challenge, you’ll find an opportunity to create something different here with support across all levels of the company. Simply put, this is going to be both a fun and meaningful journey!

Note: we operate on a hybrid schedule, which necessitates working out of our San Francisco office location 3 days a week.

Here are a few of the things you’ll do:

  • Partner closely with the SVP of People and Ops to drive culture initiatives and ensure we maintain our culture as we scale
  • Work closely with the Executive Team to develop programs that inspire employees and rally the organization around common goals, vision and values
  • Lead strategic people team efforts, including talent acquisition, assessment, development, and retention, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Operate as a strategic partner to senior executives, providing expert guidance on organizational design, leadership development, and workforce planning
  • Innovate the role of the US-based People and Recruiting teams, pioneering best practices and forward-thinking strategies to enhance the employee experience
  • Challenge and iterate upon our organizational structure. Try bold new things
  • Lead change management initiatives, guiding the organization through growth and transformation
  • Develop and track key HR metrics and analytics to inform decision-making and optimize workforce strategies
  • Coach, mentor, and inspire a high performing team of people professionals whose functions span the entire employee lifecycle recruitment through exit
  • Develop a comprehensive Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging strategy, and insure the implementation of initiatives that further cultivate an inclusive and equitable workplace

Our ideal candidate:

  • 12+ years of relevant work experience, including 3+ years supporting a senior leadership team
  • You possess deep experience leading people teams that span various disciplines, including but not limited to: HRBP, people ops, employee experience (including DEIB), and recruitment
  • You have experience providing guidance and establishing best practices on a national level (think: multi-state employee populations)
  • You’ve lived a growth story before and can leverage strong change management principles to lead organizations through their evolution
  • You bring experience integrating innovative people strategies with business objectives to drive company success.
  • You bring exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong personal connections with employees at every level of the organization
  • You’re experienced in coaching and providing feedback not only to your team, but to leaders of all levels

The good stuff:

  • Mission-driven: You'll be joining more than just another startup. Our members’ success is at the heart of everything we do.
  • Impact: We move quickly and encourage every employee to push the envelope. Our best ideas come from out-of-the-box thinking and innovation; be ready to fail fast and often!
  • Compensation: We offer a competitive salary and meaningful equity grants.
    • Base pay is $216k-$265k, depending on experience and skills.
  • Benefits & perks: From wellness programs to exceptional family leave policies, the health and happiness of our employees are foremost.

Our core values:

  • People come first: We prioritize people as we explore opportunities and work through challenges.
  • Raise the bar: We push for greatness—for ourselves, each other, and our members.
  • Own it: Trust and ownership let us make decisions with confidence.
  • We love what we do: We bring passion to our work and love what we create for our members.
  • Keep it real: Authenticity, respect, and transparency are at our core.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
