About Us:

Notion helps you build beautiful tools for your life’s work. Millions of users, from individuals to large organizations like Toyota, Figma, and OpenAI, love Notion for its flexibility and choose it because it helps them save time and money.

In-person collaboration is essential to Notion's culture. We require all team members to work from our offices on Mondays and Thursdays, our designated Anchor Days. Certain teams or positions may require additional in-office workdays.

About The Role:

As Head of People Analytics & Operations for our People team, you’ll play a pivotal leadership role at the heart of Notion’s growth — driving strategic planning, operational excellence, and technology transformation across our People org. This isn’t just about making things run more smoothly (though you’ll do that too); it’s about reimagining how a modern People function can operate in a world where AI and human potential work hand in hand.

You’ll be the architect behind how we scale talent, optimize systems, and harness data — all in service of our mission to help teams everywhere work smarter. At a company that’s shaping the future of knowledge work, you’ll be leading the team that’s shaping the future of our work.

What You'll Achieve:

Strategic Planning & Leadership: Partner closely with our Chief People Officer and People Staff Leads to craft our People strategy. Own the design and execution of scalable operations to drive our growth objectives.

People Analytics & Insights: Build and scale our People Analytics function, designing the pipeline of data from the ground up and translating complex inputs into actionable insights to drive strategic business decisions and measure the effectiveness of our people programs.

Technology & Innovation: Lead the integration of AI and emerging technologies across the People function — not only to eliminate manual, repetitive work, but to unlock smarter, faster, and more strategic decision-making. Partner with internal product and engineering teams to bring People-centric insights and use cases into the development of Notion itself, shaping how our product supports modern People and operations teams everywhere.

Team Development: Build and lead a lean, high-performing team who will collectively elevate Notion's people infrastructure.

Drive Sustainable Growth: Partner closely with our People Staff and business leaders to shape the future of Notion’s workforce, including Global expansion opportunities, headcount planning, and strategic programs.

Skills You'll Need to Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, CS or related field, or equivalent experience

  • 12+ years of work experience, including progressive growth within strategy, operational, and analytical roles and at least 5+ years experience at a high-growth technology company

  • Deep curiosity of AI technology and fluency in streamlining operations using AI

  • Systems thinker who has the ability to build and execute remarkably fast, with conviction, exemplary judgment and limited guidance

  • A top talent magnet with proven leadership of cross functional and high performing teams

Nice to Haves:
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, & statistical analyses

  • Background of working with Notion

  • MBA or advantaged degree in Math, Engineering or related field

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
