VP of Marketing: Job Description

Location: Remote (US) | Department: Marketing | Reports to: CEO

The Role

We are hiring a VP of Marketing to lead our marketing function and the team behind it. You will report to the CEO, sit on the senior leadership team, and own brand strategy, positioning, pipeline, website and product marketing.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will set the direction, develop your team and partners, and roll up your sleeves when the work calls for it. We are looking for a leader who brings a clear point of view, grounds decisions in data, and brings Sales, Product and Customer Success along on one shared story.

What You'll DoSet the Strategy and Own Pipeline
  • Build and run the 2027 marketing plan and budget, tied to the company's revenue goal.
  • Own marketing-sourced pipeline targets with Sales and Rev Ops, and report on them weekly.
  • Set the channel mix across paid, content, events, community, partnerships and outbound support. Measure it and shift spend to what works.
  • Use AI tools to help the team produce more, faster, without lowering the bar on quality.
Lead the Team and Unify the Message

You will lead a cross-functional group of people and partners:

  • Head of Content, Community & Events: Lead and support them as they grow the podcast, webinar and events program. Help plan and execute a unified program so our content, the events we attend and our community efforts reinforce the same priorities.
  • Product Marketing Manager (open headcount): Hire and develop a Product Marketing Manager to drive product marketing with you.
  • Rev Ops and Marketing Ops: Set their priorities and lead them in building automated campaigns and tracking pipeline performance.
  • Agencies and contractors: Direct our web design agency, web developer, paid media agencies and freelancers, and hold their work to one messaging standard.

Beyond your team, you will align Marketing, Product, Sales and Customer Success around one messaging framework, so every deck, campaign, web page and sales conversation tells the same story.

Product Marketing

Your team owns product marketing for AllVoices. You will hire and lead a Product Marketing Manager to drive this work with you.

  • Own our ICP, value propositions, positioning and competitive differentiation across the ER and HR tech market, and keep them current as we move upmarket.
  • Ground positioning in evidence: win/loss analysis, buyer interviews and what we hear in sales conversations.
  • Run product launches with Product, including tiering, naming, messaging, enablement and the launch calendar.
  • Keep all sales assets and the website current with our latest value propositions and capabilities. This includes the Sales Resource Library: sales decks, case studies, business case materials, video, competitive collateral.
  • Run customer marketing: the weekly customer newsletter, quarterly product roadmap webinars and in-app announcements for major releases.
Content, Community & Events
  • Plan and execute content, events and community efforts focused on the topics our buyers care about most.
  • Expand our content program into SEO & AEO (answer engine optimization), with the right tools and partners.
  • Connect content, community and events to pipeline, so we know what is working and can invest in it.
Website

We work with a web design agency and have a web developer on retainer. You own the website backlog and drive conversion through both content and optimization.

  • Make sure our messaging drives conversion, reflects our competitive differentiators clearly and promotes demo bookings.
  • Optimize landing pages and site experience for paid media campaigns.
  • Prioritize the backlog with our design and development partners, then test and iterate.
Paid Media

We partner with two paid media agencies. With them and your Rev Ops team, you will drive the qualified pipeline we need to hit our sales goals.

  • Meet with each agency regularly to set direction and review performance.
  • Own audience strategy and campaign messaging.
  • Direct campaign creative, from concept to final review.
  • Run analysis with Rev Ops and optimize spend toward qualified pipeline.
AI Optimization

This role uses AI and automation to help a lean team do more. You will:

  • Build automated campaigns using Gong, Claude and HubSpot Prospector, with your Rev Ops and Marketing Ops team and in close partnership with Sales.
  • Identify opportunities to automate content and creative production without sacrificing quality.
  • Surface insights from prospect and customer conversations and emails, and build them into our messaging and competitive differentiation.
How Success Is Measured
  • Marketing-sourced pipeline: Target set with the CEO and Sales in your first 60 days.
  • Pipeline conversion and win rate on marketing-sourced deals: Target set with the CEO and Sales in your first 60 days.
  • Website conversion and demo bookings: Trending up quarter over quarter.
  • Sales use of enablement content: Used in active deals, measured by the Sales team.
  • Product launches: Shipped on the agreed date with enablement in place.
What You BringRequired
  • 10+ years in enterprise B2B SaaS marketing (selling to mid-market and enterprise companies, not SMB), including 3+ years leading a marketing team.
  • Ownership of pipeline targets and a marketing budget, with results you can walk us through.
  • Strong product marketing: positioning, messaging, competitive marketing and launches that Sales used.
  • A track record of leading and developing marketers, and of managing agencies and outside partners.
  • A hands-on approach. You are comfortable building a deck, writing copy or reviewing creative alongside your team, using tools like Canva and AI.
  • Hands-on experience building automated campaigns and AI workflows with tools like Gong, Claude and HubSpot Prospector.
  • Startup or growth-stage experience, and comfort leading a lean, high-output team.
  • A strong writer who can move between a competitive brief, ad copy and a customer newsletter.
  • A collaborative leader who brings evidence to decisions and builds alignment with Sales, Product and Customer Success.
Preferred
  • HR experience is a huge plus: time working in HR or HR tech, or marketing to HR, Legal and Compliance buyers.
  • Experience marketing an AI product, or using AI to run marketing.
  • Experience moving a company upmarket into mid-market and enterprise accounts.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $180,000 to $210,000 base, plus company equity.

Competitive benefit package, company equity, 401(k) matching, medical, dental and vision insurance, unlimited paid time off, paid holidays, remote flexible work and company equipment.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
