About VESSL AI

VESSL AI is a specialized AI cloud. We provision and route GPU capacity across multiple clusters and providers, giving AI teams one platform to access, scale, and manage compute, from a single GPU to thousands. We serve top research labs, AI startups, and enterprise teams. Founded in Seoul and scaling fast in San Francisco, we are building out the US go to market team this year.

About the Role

VESSL is building the specialized AI cloud for the teams pushing AI forward: frontier labs, physical AI companies, and research institutions. Demand from AI researchers is growing and our sales team is scaling. What we don't have is a marketing leader whose job is to own how the market finds, understands, and chooses VESSL.

That's you. This is a builder role in the truest sense. You will set our positioning and personally run our first programs while building the marketing function around you: designing the funnel, hiring the first marketers, and writing the playbooks they run. You'll be equally comfortable walking an ML researcher through why our cloud fits their workload and walking a growth marketer through their first funnel review.

You will own the marketing funnel end to end across every market VESSL serves: growth, field, and community, and the global story that ties them together. In an AI cloud business, the researcher running a first job on a single GPU today is the lab reserving a cluster tomorrow, and this role owns that path from first touch to pipeline, in every region.

What You'll OwnOwn the Story
  • Own all global messaging and positioning for VESSL: one core story on why AI researchers choose us over hyperscalers and neoclouds, localized with regional teams for each market we serve

  • Lead global launches and arm sales teams in every region with the narrative, case studies, and battlecards that win technical buyers

Own the Funnel
  • Own the key metrics across the entire marketing funnel, from first touch through activation, self-serve revenue, and sourced pipeline, with a dashboard VESSL leadership can plan against

  • Build and run digital growth across paid, SEO and AEO, content, lifecycle, and the channels where researchers actually spend time (X, Reddit, Hacker News, GitHub, Discord)

  • Partner with product on the PLG motion: onboarding, activation, in-product growth loops, and a clean handoff of high-intent users to sales

Own the Field
  • Build a global events calendar across regions, pairing flagship conferences with the regional AI and research events that matter in each market

  • Run a repeatable program of meetups, workshops, and hackathons, plus executive dinners and private events that turn relationships with frontier labs and enterprise AI teams into pipeline

  • Partner with regional sales leaders on account-based programs for our largest managed cluster opportunities in each market

Build the Research Community
  • Make AI researchers, our core persona, our strongest advocates, following their path from academia to neolabs, frontier labs, and enterprise

  • Build penetration into academic institutions through university labs, research groups, compute credit programs, and student ambassadors

Build the Team
  • Start hands-on, then hire and lead a US team across growth, field, product marketing, and DevRel, with regional marketers who own execution in their markets

  • Set one global operating model, planning cadence, and measurement framework that regional teams run on, so marketing scales as VESSL enters new markets

Who We Expect
  • 10 to 15 years of marketing experience, most of it at high growth startups or scale-ups

  • Deep understanding of HPC, AI/ML infrastructure, and AI workloads across training, fine-tuning, and inference; you can go deep on GPUs, clusters, and schedulers with an ML researcher and be taken seriously

  • Process builder, not an operator of playbooks: you've built a marketing function, funnel, or program from zero and can walk us through what you designed and why

  • Full-funnel ownership across both digital growth and field marketing, with results you can quantify

  • Sharp positioning instincts in a crowded technical market, and experience partnering with product on a PLG motion and with sales on an enterprise motion

  • AI native across the stack: hands-on with marketing automation and analytics tooling (HubSpot, product analytics, attribution), AI content and research tools, and tools like Claude Code to multiply your own output, and you'll build a team that works the same way

  • Bonus: marketing experience at a GPU cloud, neocloud, or developer infrastructure company, and existing relationships in the AI research community

  • On site, San Francisco

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
