Redox is on a mission to accelerate healthcare’s transformation with useful data. The Redox Engine, a flexible interoperability platform, connects and powers real-time healthcare data exchange. With just one connection, data can be orchestrated across a growing network of 11,000+ systems and organizations, including 90+ electronic health record systems (EHRs). Redox processes over 1.6 billion messages per month across our health tech vendor, provider, payer, EHR, and life sciences customers.

Opportunity & impact

Redox is seeking a Head of Legal (interim) to serve as lead legal advisor to our CEO and executive team with a particular focus supporting  our commercial organization. This is a hands-on, business-embedded role: beyond core legal leadership, we're looking for someone who brings sharp strategic problem-solving and commercial judgment. This is an interim engagement with close partnership to the CEO and executive team throughout the duration of the consulting agreement with Redox.
Redox is an AI-forward company. We expect this role - like every leader on our team - to actively use AI tools (Claude, etc.) to work faster and smarter.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as a thought partner and lead negotiator in complex enterprise deals, working directly with the sales , customer success, and finance teams.

  • Support pricing and packaging for complex SaaS contracts in partnership with the CFO and commercial leaders.

  • Participate in board meetings and provide legal counsel to the Board of Directors and its committees as requested.

  • Advise on corporate governance practices, legal documentation, and compliance programs such as HITRUST and SOC 2.

  • Lead and develop a small, hands-on legal and compliance team, operating as a working leader and sounding board rather than a manager of a large department.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Head of Legal or comparable senior in-house legal experience.
  • Deep commercial and enterprise contracting experience, including negotiating complex enterprise deals in a highly regulated environment.

  • Hands-on execution orientation - comfortable operating without a large team beneath you.

  • Demonstrated strategic problem-solving in real business situations, not just legal analysis.

  • Business-minded perspective, with the judgment to balance legal risk against commercial goals.

  • Experience in various healthcare verticals - e.g. provider, payer, and/or life sciences.
  • Comfort and enthusiasm for using AI tools (e.g., Claude) to accelerate legal and contracting work.

  • JD from an accredited law school; active license to practice law.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Regulatory and healthcare SaaS experience.
  • Experience identifying business opportunities connected to regulatory change.

  • Venture-backed or private equity-backed company experience.

Specific Software Platform/Tools Required and/or Preferred

  • Required: Contract lifecycle management and e-signature tools (i.e, LinkSquares, Docusign, Salesforce).
  • Preferred: AI tools for legal work (e.g., Claude) for contract review, drafting, and research.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
