Head of Hospitality Engineering

North- Remote within the US

The Head of Hospitality Engineering will be responsible for the full technical vision of product engineering including full design, management, quality, and execution of software & hardware engineering development initiatives. A critical function of this role is the development and growth of the Hospitality Engineering team, not only providing product leadership, but also investing in the technical and personal growth of their teams. Monitors and analyzes technology and latest trends that can improve the company's products, performance, and hospitality innovation. This person must strive for continuous evolution of our leading-edge products while also seeking out fresh, new ideas to incorporate. The Head of Hospitality Engineering must have impeccable technical and interpersonal skills, a spirit of innovation, and the ability to lead, motivate, and grow successful engineering teams.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Design, manage, and execute software development initiatives including setting strategic software development direction, ensuring selection of the right technologies and development languages, and proper implementation of those techniques. 

  • Selection of hardware.

  • Build and maintain product roadmap working with the North Hospitality Product Management team.

  • Lead product events as they arrive and guide, mentor, and lead the team to an innovation solution. 

  • Partner closely with North’s payments processing leadership teams. 

  • Budget and forecast of all engineering, hardware and development related expenses. 

  • Derive technical specifications from stated business requirements. 

  • Successfully deploy customer-driven product development. 

  • Leverage the latest technologies for operational application development and determine how to best apply those latest technologies to further the company’s business goals. 

  • Be a strong, purpose-driven leader while building and managing development teams. 

  • Regularly articulate a vision and plan across the enterprise and gain endorsement from senior leadership and the Executive team. 

  • Ensure that the ability to generate accurate reporting is designed in and deployed within our architecture standards. 

  • Establish and communicate policies, procedures, and standards throughout the company to prevent unauthorized access, use, release or destruction of any corporate or non-public consumer information. 

  • Identify, negotiate, and contract with third-party development contractors and outsourcing suppliers. 

 What we need from you:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering or a related field 

  • 15+ years of engineering and application development experience 

  • 10+ years of leadership experience 

  • 5+ years of development experience leading large enterprise projects

  • Leadership experience in: Open Source Technologies, modern languages, cloud architectures, and development methods in large complex payment systems 

  • Excellent team player and team builder 

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a very dynamic, and time sensitive work environment 

  • Hands-on technologist who is passionate about the latest technologies 

  • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities, as well as a keen attention to detail 

  • Exceptional communication skills, organization skills, and time management skills 

  • Knowledge and experience with semi-Integrated payment technology including gateway payment methods 

  • Proven success at deploying customer-driven product development 

  • Demonstrated ability to derive technical specifications from stated business requirements 

  • Ability to understand technical issues related to security requirements at a high level 

  • Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures 

  • Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines 

 

We would prefer: 

  • 5+ years of payment processing experience 

  • Experience building and leading fullstack development in iOS, Android, React, and Node.js
