Who we are:

Present, together. Our mission is simple: to make wellbeing accessible and inspiring for everyone, everywhere. Open is a modern studio reimagining the way people practice mindfulness. We blend music, sound, breath, and movement to create powerful shared experiences — both in-person and online. Inspired by art, culture, and design, we believe in the power of direct experience to transform lives.

Based in Venice, our growing team is diverse, ambitious, and dedicated to building the future of wellness. We’re backed by Founders Fund (Keith Rabois), Susa, LVMH (Miyuki Matsumoto), Coatue (Arielle Zuckerberg), Slow, SV Angel, Maveron, Jack Dorsey, Adrian Aoun, Ben Rubin (Houseparty), and more.

The Role:

We’re looking for a Head of Growth Marketing to design and lead our paid and organic growth strategies, across both acquisition and retention with strong tech skills to own attribution, and martech. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll play a pivotal role in scaling Open, with the chance to build much from scratch and shape the company’s trajectory. This is a strategic role that also requires rolling up your sleeves and driving execution.

This role will be based in LA hybrid with T-TH in our Venice Beach office.

Responsibilities

  • Define, own, and execute a long-term growth marketing strategy that compounds over time, balancing near-term revenue with durable product-led growth
  • Drive rapid, efficient customer growth through full ownership of the growth stack across digital channels (Paid Social, Paid Search, Affiliates, Organic Social, Email and Push) and offline levers (brand partnerships and strategic collaborations), with hands-on ownership of at least one core paid UA channel, preferably Google
  • Design and implement marketing attribution from first principles, establishing experimentation-informed models and building MMM from scratch to guide spend allocation, forecasting, and scaling decisions
  • Define the north-star KPIs for growth, translate them into clear operating metrics, and create transparency and accountability across the organization
  • Establish and run a rigorous experimentation engine across new and existing channels, rapidly identifying signal, scaling what works, and shutting down what doesn’t
  • Own budgets, ROI, and business cases end-to-end, with disciplined planning, clear reporting, and a strong learning loop that informs future strategy
  • Build an in-house creative factory capable of shipping high-velocity, high-quality creative, while effectively leveraging and managing external agency partners
  • Partner closely with Product and R&D to identify, prioritize, and deliver growth initiatives that are grounded in user insight and reinforce long-term product value
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing growth team with strong ownership, high standards, and a bias toward execution and impact

What drives success for this role:

  • 4+ years in growth marketing, from strategy to execution, ideally in a B2C startup environment
  • 2+ years experience in managing and mentoring high-performance growth teams
  • Proven hands-on track record in paid user acquisition (Google ecosystem experience a strong plus)
  • Advanced knowledge of marketing data stack, attribution, BU economics
  • Data-driven, insight-led, and experimentation-focused mindset
  • Strong people management skills, with the ability to build processes and influence cross-functionally
  • Capable of delivering high impact quickly and prioritising what matters most
  • Intellectual honesty, always striving to improve and learn
  • Resourceful, optimistic, tenacious, confident, and full of energy
  • Self-starter, forward-thinking, innovative, and comfortable owning big responsibilities
  • Ambitious, results-driven with a bias to action. You have a can-do-more approach, a passion to make an impact and exceed your goals
  • Curious, humble, adaptable, and able to thrive in ambiguity

What we offer

  • Healthcare (health, dental, vision)
  • Flexible PTO
  • Access to all Open classes (in person & virtually)
  • Autonomy, Ownership, Equity

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
