About Brain Co.

Brain Co. is an applied AI startup co-founded by Jared Kushner and Elad Gil, and backed by leading Silicon Valley builders including Patrick Collison and Andrej Karpathy.

We are building AI applications for the world’s most important institutions, delivering impact on real-world problems across governments, healthcare systems, and critical industries.

Our progress so far:

  • Automated construction permitting for a sovereign government → 80% faster, unlocking $375M+ in value

  • Optimized supply chains for a leading global energy company → 30% lower cost, 99% reliability, preventing $100M+ in losses

  • Streamlined hospital patient care across national health systems → 40% better outcomes, 80% less admin work

Company momentum:

  • Raised a $55M Series A from leading investors

  • Built a team of 70+ AI experts from Tesla, Google DeepMind, NVIDIA, and Databricks

At Brain Co., we focus on applying frontier AI to real institutional challenges, working alongside governments, healthcare systems, and critical industries to modernize how essential services operate.

We are looking for leaders who want to help bring new technology into institutions that impact millions of people.

About Brain Co. & Government Strategy

Government services touch every part of daily life, but the systems behind them are often slow, frustrating, and decades out of date. A permit that should take days takes months. A license renewal that could be instant requires stacks of paper and weeks of waiting.

Brain Co. is changing that. We build AI software that makes government work better for the people it serves and the people who work inside it. Our platform cuts through bureaucratic bottlenecks, so citizens get faster answers and government employees spend less time on paperwork and more time on work that actually matters. In Qatar, we've already proven it: our platform has reduced permit processing from months to minutes.

We started with construction permitting, a $1T+ bottleneck that affects housing, infrastructure, and economic growth across the country. But permitting is just our entry point. The same problems exist across dozens of government workflows, and we intend to solve them.

About the Role

This is one of the most consequential roles at Brain Co. You'll run our government technology business, owning strategy, revenue, partnerships, and the team.

You'll inherit real traction and a product that works. Your job is to scale it into new cities, new states, and new areas of government where the need is just as urgent.

If you've spent your career waiting for a role where the mission, the market, and the moment all line up — this is it.

What You’ll Do
  • Build and lead a sales team that can navigate both government procurement and fast-moving commercial deals in the US and globally

  • Close anchor contracts with major cities and states, then expand them

  • Turn small pilots into multi-year, enterprise-wide contracts

  • Identify which government workflows to go after next and make the case for prioritization

  • Serve as the senior relationship holder for government and industry partners

  • Work closely with Product and AI Engineers to make sure we're building something that works for both government employees and the constituents they serve

Who You Are

You've done one or many of these things well:

  • Ideally, held senior roles in both government and tech, and are fluent in both worlds. You understand how government institutions operate and have experience navigating government processes and relationships.

  • Scaled a software business — in any complex, regulated, or enterprise-heavy industry — from early traction to a mature, repeatable revenue engine

  • Led enterprise sales in a regulated industry — real estate, urban planning, financial services, healthcare — where selling to both regulators and the regulated was part of the job

Beyond the specific background, we're looking for someone who is:

  • Entrepreneurial — comfortable building without a playbook, making decisions with incomplete information, and moving fast when the path isn't obvious

  • A strong problem solver — you find ways through obstacles others treat as dead ends, whether that's a procurement barrier, a skeptical agency, or a product gap

  • Partnership-minded — you've used strategic partnerships, channel relationships, or ecosystem alliances to drive distribution and open doors that direct sales alone couldn't

  • Intellectually curious — you are genuinely curious about applying AI and emerging technologies to real-world problems, particularly ones with social impact

Why This Role Matters

Governments run critical systems for millions of people using outdated tools. Better software doesn't just make bureaucracy more efficient — it means families get housing faster, small businesses open sooner, and public servants can focus on the work they actually came to do. This role sits at the center of that change.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
