Overview

The Head of Goalkeeping works closely with the Head Coach to create and conduct training,  performance, and development plans for the team’s goalkeepers, playing a vital role in enhancing goalkeeping performance.

The successful candidate may be responsible for planning, delivering, and analyzing all team restarts.

The position requires a deep understanding of the game,  the NWSL, and international women’s competition. The candidate must have excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with players, coaching staff, and team management.


Responsibilities

  • Works closely with head coach and technical staff to develop a full and deep understanding of the team’s game model and the goalkeeper's role within it and contribute to game plan conversations/creation
  • Responsible for Goalkeeper preparation on all game days
  • Designs and implements goalkeeper-specific training for a unit of goalkeepers that enhances the performance of every goalkeeper within the group.
  • Collaborates with the technical staff regarding the integration of goalkeepers into team training
  • Creates and communicates Individual Performance Plans for all goalkeepers, including on-field sessions, film, and data.
  • Responsible for in-game set-piece organization, adjustments, and player role clarity
  • *Leads opponent analysis on opposition restarts
  • Works with team medical staff to monitor goalkeeper's physical condition and address any injuries.
  • Stays up to date with the latest coaching methods, trends, and technology related to goalkeeper coaching.
  • Assists in scouting for new talent and recruitment purposes
  • *Designs, communicates,  implements, and evaluates all set pieces and restarts for the team.

*May or may not be a responsibility based on the chosen candidate’s skillset 


Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in professional soccer.
  • Minimum UEFA or USSF A License.
  • Professional goalkeeping playing background preferred.
  • Proven history of developing goalkeepers in senior professional settings
  • Extensive knowledge of NWSL, collegiate, and international women’s soccer.
  • Collaborative management style.
  • High proficiency with Hudl,  Sportscode, Spiideo, Wyscout, and Statsbomb.
  • Ability to communicate with clarity, conviction, and efficiency in a team setting.
  • Positive influencer who seeks feedback.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage and motivate a group.
  • Practices self-assessment and self-reflection.
  • Accountable for actions and decisions and does not make excuses.
  • Ability to manage high workloads in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and adhere to non-traditional working hours.
  • Durability to withstand the physical demands of a 10-month competitive season.

Compensation:

In addition to the above benefits, this role has a pay range between $140,000 to $150,000 annually.
