The Role: Morningstar's Head of Global Procurement will lead a central team that oversees key categories including data, technology, professional services, and travel and partners with business leaders to ensure objectives are met. The team is also responsible for creating and maintaining polices, core processes and procurement standards. Essential activities include implementing sourcing strategies to drive value, negotiating high-value contracts, and providing leadership, guidance, and development to the procurement organization. This position will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and is based at the company's headquarters in Chicago.
Responsibilities:
  • Leads the development and execution of Morningstar's sourcing and procurement strategies to create value for the organization.
  • Serves as key partner to business and functional stakeholders and collaborates to meet business and company objectives.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and oversight to the procurement team across all procurement categories.
  • Designs and implements processes and policies around contracting, sourcing and vendor management.
  • Leads large RFI/RFP process, managing stakeholders through the evaluation, selection, and contract negotiations processes.
  • Establishes and maintains meaningful strategic supplier relationships.
  • Ensures procurement strategies are driving appropriate vendor pricing and cost reduction opportunities to increase business profitability.
  • Serves as a senior subject matter expert, developing and presenting recommendations from procurement assessments and/or analysis.
  • Builds and monitor KPI's around savings performance of the department and ensures accountability over those metrics.
  • Leads and guides strategies to impact our supplier diversity and sustainability programs.
  • Ensures ongoing awareness of market trends for major categories and proactively adapts procurement strategies.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 15 years of procurement management experience in large, global organization growing at scale.
  • Experience with or understanding of key categories of direct and indirect spend including data, technology, hardware and software, professional services, and travel.
  • Experience with sourcing in international regions.
  • Proven ability to evaluate, implement, and scale business systems for the function.
  • Demonstrated understanding of procure to pay processes, including the process implementation and system requirements for purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus and foster positive relationships with team members and suppliers.
  • Broad experience in operating in a complex, and diverse business environment.
  • Ability to articulate and communicate thoughts clearly, plan initiatives, and execute with excellence and with appropriate urgency.
  • Professional presence, credibility, and authority such that others listen/seek advice and guidance.
  • Proven ability to coach, motivate and develop careers of others within a global team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Coupa a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Total Cash Compensation Range
$215,825.00 - 388,500.00 USD Annual
