About Odys

Our mission at Odys is simple - we build safe, sustainable aircraft to cut travel time in half on the world's busiest corridors. Our flagship aircraft Alta enables travelers to skip the big-airport hassle by using city helipads and local airports to connect cities less than 1,000 miles apart (approx 40% of flights). And on average cut CO2 by 76% on tens of billions of flight miles globally.

To get there, we start with our UAV called Laila for commercial logistics, medical transport, humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and defense missions. We’re deploying aircraft with launch partners (Fiji Airways, Honeywell, Aramex, US Navy) beginning in late 2025 and already have firm orders for aircraft under contract.

We’re a team of expert engineers from deep tech and aerospace that focus on fast iterations loops (completed transition flight faster than our peers) combined with mastery of the aircraft certification process. Previously, our team developed custom drones, brought multiple automotive platforms into production, and electrified transportation vehicles that magnetically levitate, that roll, that fly. Together, we’ve been learning, developing, building, testing, and preparing for this challenge our entire lives.

Role Overview

We are hiring a senior, hands-on finance leader to own and build Odys Aviation’s finance function in advance of a Series B. This role is deeply execution-oriented and will be responsible for day-to-day finance operations, FP&A, and financial modeling, while laying the foundation for a scaled finance organization post-Series B.

This is not a purely strategic role. We are looking for a builder and operator who is comfortable working in the details today and scaling systems, processes, and team over time.

Core Responsibilities
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

    • Own and maintain the company’s integrated financial model (operating, cash flow, and scenario models)

    • Update models regularly based on actuals, changing program timelines, and production realities

    • Support annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and scenario planning (base / downside / upside cases)

    • Track burn, runway, and capital needs in real time and surface risks early

    • Partner with leadership to translate operational plans (production ramps, hiring, programs) into financial implications

  • Manufacturing & Production Finance

    • Build and maintain unit economics models tied to production volume, BOMs, labor, and supply chain assumptions

    • Support production planning, cost tracking, and margin analysis as the company scales manufacturing

    • Track program-level costs across R&D, flight test, and customer programs

  • Day-to-Day Finance Operations

    • Own core finance operations including:

      • Payment execution and vendor management

      • AP/AR oversight and cash management

      • Monthly close coordination with external accounting partners

    • Ensure financial records are accurate, current, and decision-ready

    • Improve finance workflows, controls, and internal reporting as the company scales

    • Serve as the internal point person for auditors, tax advisors, and external accounting firms

  • Fundraising & Board Support

    • Support Series B and future fundraising efforts through:

      • Model updates and scenario analysis

      • Data room preparation

      • Investor and diligence financial requests

    • Prepare board-level financial materials, dashboards, and reporting

    • Partner with the Strategy team on capital structure planning and long-range financial strategy

  • Building the Finance Function

    • Design and implement scalable finance systems, tools, and processes

    • Hire and manage additional finance team members over time (post-Series B)

Experience

Required Experience:

  • 8-12+ years of experience in finance roles with increasing responsibility

  • Direct experience in manufacturing, production, hardware, aerospace, automotive, or industrial companies

  • Strong hands-on FP&A and financial modeling background

  • Experience operating in fast-moving, resource-constrained environments (startup or high-growth company)

  • Comfortable owning both strategic analysis and tactical execution

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and supply chain

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting venture-backed companies pre- and post-Series B

  • Exposure to scaling production environments and cost-driven businesses

  • Experience implementing finance systems (ERP, accounting tools, reporting infrastructure)

  • Prior experience managing diligence processes

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
